I've been interested in producing beats. What is the general rule of thumb for the structure of a song?
I usually go by 16bars intro - 16bars melo similiar to intro with bassline - 2 or 1 bar of middleplay so the rapper can catch their breaths or whatever - 16 more bars, end.
And thats pretty much the structure for a simple battle/diss-beat.
Also, if you are using fl studio, play with the pattern swing slider, it can make some interesting results other than that boom-bap-boom-bap and all that shit.

Im not a huge fan of "talk rap" (Not putting force and "story telling voice" into it) since it is pretty much hated here in Sweden, still, the flow is great!

I have a vinyl player and I sometimes sample vinyl, but I don't really have any actual hardware for music making other than midi stuff.
How much did you get the MPC1000 for?

Not even trying to come across as a dick, but has anyone noticed the lack of originality of drums? A good handful of these songs (by their respective producer) have extremely similar drum sounds and structures.
