I was at work today, standing up on the till serving a customer when I suddenly heard a huge noise which sounded like a rush of air fill both my ears, it was incredibly loud and felt like it was accompanied by actual physical wind, this lasted about what i thought was five seconds.
I opened my eyes looked around and everything was remarkably silent and the customer in front of me was looking at me in a strange way, but everyone else was carrying on as normal. I was seriously freaked out and didn't know what the hell just happened.
I'm not sure but I think some time might have passed when this happened, like I had fallen asleep or something without realising it. After running a couple of google searches it seems like nobody has had anything quite like what I described.
I posted this to see if anyone else had experienced something similar or knew what this was.
Fucking goasts!!!!
:tinfoil:
A soul whispered to you. You are the chosen one.
Things like this happen to me all the time, except it's more of a buzzing/ringing and I can't hear anything in that period. Sucks. If it continues maybe you should see a doctor?

Had it happen to me too once. Shit was trippy.
I don't get how that's trippy, but okay.

I lol'ed
My initial reaction was 'what the fuck just happened?' and for some reason I thought a bomb might have exploded in the far distance, something big like a nuke and the resulting pressure wave had just hit but not enough to destroy anything.
Then i realised this hadn't happen as nobody else appeared to have been affected.

Wow, that's probably what it is.
I'm having an operation tomorrow and I've recently been going to bed late (like tonight).

Holy fuck I've had exactly what that describes sometimes like 12 times a night right before trying to sleep.
Never knew what it was.
I've had this before happened right before i was about to go to sleep no need to say after that i was scared shitless and didn't go to sleep until a few hours afterwards.

I have the same experience when I try to go to sleep, almost like clockwork. It scares the hell out of me every time it happens.
I have this problem too, sometimes when there's a fill up of silence I'll get this lound ringing in my ear.
Tinnitus, nothing to worry about, has something to do with the liquid in your Cochlea.
Something like that happened to me. I'm about to asleep...then a loud fucking noise. I almost shit my bed.
same thing kinda happened but I fell down without realizing it.
same thing kinda happened but I fell down without realizing it.
It's due to the rapid movement of fluid inside of the Organs of Corti, which is within, of course, the Cochlea.
This rapid movement of fluid can be caused by a wide range of things, but it does do tend to fuck up your inner ear temporarily (the tendency to fall down) and the ringing/sound in your ear (Tinnitus, it's called Tinnitus.)
close your eyes and tense the muscles around them
the rush of blood through your tightening blood vessels should make a similar sound
or it could be brian cancer i donno

Happened to me, happens a lot, But its usually a loud WHINE or a big POP but recently it sounded like a scream and distorted sounds, i thought my headphones where fucking up and i took them off and could still hear the sounds/screams after I put my hands around my ears.
Fucking trippy and scary.
Ive also come close to passing out when i stand up too quickly, but I think thats due to my blood pressures not changing quick enough from when i transit to standing from sitting.

Do you mean you sat for a long time and got up too quickly? I don't think that has any effect on hearing.
A lot of the things described in this thread are caused by tinnitus. You all have 2 weeks to live.
Not really, though. You can avoid this by cleaning your ears like, once every 2 days. Just don't puncture your eardrum.

Something about blood pressure there.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills here.
I explained this twice.

Ah human anatomy, has the uncanny ability to make anything sound painful.

something like this happened to me once
i was just like "meh" and lived my life as usual
You have a brain tumor, go see a doctor and cry in his office while you are waiting for the xrays.
It's funny. This sort of thing happened to me last night. It usually happens right before I go to sleep. When it does happen, I'm half asleep, and half awake. I'm awake enough to know somethings happening, but I'm physically paralyzed. I try to move, but I can't.
But last night, I heard the loud noise of laughing children in my ear. I was scared shitless. I couldn't move, just sitting there staring at the wall, thinking that children are coming to kill me.

I can do this whenever I want, it feels weird. I'm not sure if this was mentioned above, but I think it's your eardrums vibrating.
