Damn i'm so happy for him that he gained traction. The amount of time and effort he puts in his videos are amazing and its great that they even gave him his own stage

It's pretty surreal to me how this guy's been around since the very early days of youtube and soldiered on with so very few views for such a long time, when other old timers exploded and became quite massive in comparison.
i like how he freezes at the end
That was one of the best talks I've ever seen
He took so many risks with that performance, but he nailed it
That was a pretty awesome talk - might have a look and see if any other talks were published from QED - Surprised to see that Matt Parker was the MC.

He demonstrated it so fucking well with this performance to sync up certain parts of his video.
Holy shit now that is one good ass, well executed talk.
I haven't watched this in its entirety yet, and I agree it's a good talk, but am I the only one who thinks he should speed down a little?
I think he's putting on a nervous assistant character, hence the fast talking.
i never fucking noticed this

You should consult with your doctor if your dick also does this

Doctor 8?
loving that he and a few other creators are really revitalizing the more fun side of science and nature, keeping things accessible to a younger audience but still being incredibly informative. Not to draw total parallels but CD is rather reminiscent of Bill Nye's approach to this back in the day. Sure his topics aren't total science, but it's often just as important for people to learn to question and analyze and consider certain factors that often are taken for granted or outright ignored a lot of the time. In a similar vein, Coyote Peterson's stuff feels like a revitalization of the soul of Steve Irwin's programming

alternatively, if you have a good enough vibrator you can shoot sine waves
also in CD fashion, gonna point out this isn't a false CG vid. They're recording at 24fps and the sine is running (at first) at 24hz. If you go to the 25hz example mid-video, what you're seeing is essentially you can see a 1/25th speed video of what's causing the movement, as the speaker vibrates the tube forward and backward, and it causes the water to cascade in that zig zag pattern. If you record a 24hz movement at 24fps, you'll only ever see the same 'frame' of the motion because in the time between the camera's frames, each water droplet has moved to the position of the one that was ahead of it. The problem I have with the video is there seems to be some weird frame blending going on to increase the video speed to 30fps, which blends the action of the water on 4 out of 5 frames, adding to the illusion the water might be traveling along that zig-zag
