Bloomberg Calls Colorado Pot Laws Dumb and Says to Keep Guns Away From Minorities
Three-term New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg harped on the importance of vocational education and blasted Colorado’s decision to legalize marijuana as stupid Friday evening before a sold-out crowd at the Aspen Institute.
When an audience member asked the 72-year-old Bloomberg about Colorado marijuana, he responded that it was a terrible idea, one that is hurting the developing minds of children. Though he admitted to smoking a joint in the 1960s, he said the drug is more accessible and more damaging today.
Bloomberg claimed that 95 percent of murders fall into a specific category: male, minority and between the ages of 15 and 25. Cities need to get guns out of this group’s hands and keep them alive, he said.
So what I get from this is he's basically spouting bullshit about pot, since there's been no ill-effects as of yet, and he's also saying we need to ban young, black men from owning guns, which is racist.
well A.

And B..
Well I don't have a B, Bloombergs a retard.
He specifically refers to children when talking about Marijuana, and no matter what drug, using it while your body is still growing is always a stupid idea.
As for minorities being over represented in statistics regarding gun violence, it is mainly due to bad schooling and lack of a future that the kids can see for themselves. Not because "hurr durr blak ppl"
Funny considering how Colorado is seeing massive financial gains and little to no additional crime being committed.

It's still a stupid statement to make considering the age in Colorado is 21. Personally I'd rather have my kids smoke pot than cigarettes anyways.

Most likely meaning that when you release drugs for free onto a market, such as the case with cigarettes and alcohol is, is that kids will find it easier to get. Though, I can agree with that sentiment, but i'd rather see kids not doing drugs at all, could care the less what people over 18 do.
It's really not hard to get pot even with it being illegal. I remember some random guy at a mall offered to sell me some. Making it legal isn't going to make it easier to get, it'll just make it safer to use since there's no chance the government's going to cut it with shady shit.
I remember when people on /k/ and /pol/ use to take quick jabs at saying that people like Bloomberg and Hillary Clinton are probably closet racist, but to think that one of them isn't that far off is sorta depressing.
Bloomberg is like the worst parts of a liberal and worst parts of a conservative thrown together. He's spread the myth that the Government forced banks to cause the housing crisis, so I have a hard time calling him a liberal.
Bloomberg dumped a ton of money into Colorado a couple years ago to buy politicians to push forward his gun ban bills. Thankfully the leadering proponents of those new laws in the CO legislature were kicked out later that year by recall elections. Now if we can just get rid of that bought and paid for governor, we'll be independent again.
For anyone that believes it isn't easy to get weed:
I once got offered weed when I stopped at a convenience store, on my way to pick up weed
so I just bought it right there :v:
Rather than keeping guns away from minorities (which infringes upon their basic rights), why not invest in economic and educational programs to help them get out of the hole they are in?

This is so much easier said than done, and definitely not a new idea. When a lot of young people, especially in those groups are resigned to not being successful or their image of success is slinging drugs around or getting in to a gang just like your big brother and your dad did, it takes a whole lot more than a pep talk and some free money to get them on track again.
Bloomberg is an arrogant, greedy, elitist shithead and I have no interest in what he has to say. To me, he represents the class of people that need to be soundly defeated before the rest of us can move this country forward/

So not only is he anti-gun, he's against minorities having guns
What an ass
[sp] ahahaha since democrats are donkeys [/sp]
[sp] kill me [/sp]
Well that joint he smoked obviously damaged his brain
So he want's to deprive black people of their rights and throw people needlessly in prison.
Looks like hes worth 36.5 billion too.
im so glad hes no longer mayor
fucking nutjob
Yeah was it Bloomberg that supported the 7-round cap on gun magazines?
I wish they legalized this stuff in my state, basically it would help my dad with Chemo and that shit. Goddamn that stuff just basically kills you anyways.
Colorado high school student use of weed went down half a percent the year after legalization took effect. Sources are easily found on google, I'll find them if requested but I'm lazy right now.

I imagine that nobody would be buying from dealers in Denver if they can be guaranteed weight at a guaranteed price at a guaranteed quality (I was even told by some people with medicinal cards and those dispensary locator apps that they get notifications for buy one get one free on ounces)
Therefore, lots of dealers go out of business, therefore lots of children can't buy their weeds anymore..

Legalize all the drugs and have the state produce them and sell them at pharmacies. No more drug crime, no more overdoses attributed to contaminants, much less overdoses in general.

Because guns are an easier scapegoat than the war on drugs and poverty.

Someone once tried to tip me with weed while I was working as a bagboy in a grocery store.
It was the last thing I expected, and an interesting experience, to say the least.
Colorado is going through such a crazy revenue surplus that they're forced to give back most of it aren't they? Must be doing something fucking right. Too bad Chris Christie will never do it here in NJ while he's jerking off in his owner's box with the Dallas Cowboys.

I'd think the opposite would be true honestly. I never got into weed but when I was a kid it was the easiest drug to get if it was your thing. Alcohol and smokes were the hardest just because you needed to find someone else over 18 to buy them for you.

And if you did... Was it good?
I mean, if they gave me weed instead of cash I'd at least want it to be decent. I'd be pretty upset if someone just gave me something shitty like AK or Mexican brick, instead of a decent or good mix like strawberry ice, or Silver Haze.

The funny thing is that it's actually more difficult for kids to get weed in Colorado than in most other states. Dealers don't give a shit how old you are - they get your money. In Colorado, they legally cannot sell to someone under 21 - so they need a 21-year-old friend to get them weed.
It's less alluring when it's not illegal, and it's more difficult to get for those under-21. There's been studies that show that a huge majority of high-school kids could get weed by the end of the day, but alcohol would take them significantly more time.

The Colorado state legislators estimated a certain amount of tax revenue would be made from legalizing pot. They made more, because sales were better than expected (likely due to the pot tourism thing going on for the past year). Due to a state constitutional amendment passed back in the 90s, Colorado must refund the excess revenue back to the populace. As a result, they'll likely estimate higher revenue this year, meaning no rebate next tax season.
