• Where do I start?

Well, I've already gotten a start, almost a year ago, but I really don't know what I'm doing. At all. All I've really been able to do at this moment is fiddle around with a sega genesis soundfont in FL Studio. I haven't learned any significant music theory and I really don't know about the production process, equipment, mixing, or anything else. If anybody could help me and/or point me to a resource where I could start learning, I would really appreciate it. For an idea of how I'm doing at the moment, this is my latest song. I don't think I've ever actually gotten feedback from other musicians on my work before, so your input would be great. I'm willing to accept any criticism, no matter how harsh, as I know you're only trying to help me improve.
Well one thing you could do if you want to learn how equalizing, compressing and all that stuff work is just make more songs and try to get them a little more technical (mixing side of course, but why not composing wise too) each time. At least that's what I did (and still do). I fear I can't point you at any resources online for that stuff because I've never looked at online tutorials. (I subscribe to a magazine called Computer Music, if you don't have problems with paying money for it, I suggest you check it out, they give out free samples and plugins with each magazine and they have a lot of cool tutorials) I'll check out the song later because I don't have a chance to listen to it right now :/ [editline]16th November 2012[/editline] And most importantly just fiddle around with the plugins to see what they do. Just try every one you have installed and maybe install some more and see how they produce a different result
If you want to learn theory there's a HUGE tutorial on ultimate-guitar.com's website about music theory that users have created. Too complicated for me I play by the heart.
