Barry Burton is the best Resident Evil character.
Second is Leon just for the stupid shit he says in RE4.
Why does this video make it sound like they just ripped off the last of us since it got numerous GOTY awards?
I'm really worried about this game. I hope to god Capcom can deliver something better than the original revelations.

it's a joke video from one of the mega64 crew
joke is that survival horror games are starting to ape off of that movie the last of us because it was popular with idiots.

You can't deny survival horror games aren't trying to emulate Last of Us' success. Evil Within even took a lot of aspects from it, and Revelations 2 is looking to completely emulate it with non-zombie "infected" and an AI support partner.

Yeah but you're acting as if TLOU sucked, which, even if you don't like it, is still very good in most aspects.

It's a good story and presentation, but gameplay-wise TLOU is a prime example of what happens when you focus too much on your story and leave gameplay to rot.
Never in my two playthroughs of TLOU did I ever enjoy myself or have an engaging challenge. It was either wrestling with the awful AI or running circles around awfully designed bosses waiting for a chance to get a shot without dying in a one hit kill.

The gameplay wasn't great but it was far better and in-depth than other games of 2013, especially Bioshock Infinite. I even consider the core gunplay to be better than GTA 5's. I'll admit bloaters were lame though.

But RE did non-zombie infected and AI support partners before TLOU.

Bloaters? Lame? Have you seen their death scene?
But RE did non-zombie infected and AI support partners before TLOU.
seems to me that the two were coincidentally similar to begin with so when they take a couple minor things from last of us it becomes super noticeable

I meant that they don't fit in the universe, but watching Joel's face get ripped in half is the best thing ever

I know this is getting quite a few dumb ratings, but it's kind of true. Look at Evil Within, the game just reeks of Last of Us (one-hit kill enemies, emphasis on stealth, etc.).
I already preordered, I haven't played a single game that plays like TLOU or Evil Within or any sorts that can be compared to those games, so RE:R2 will probably be the first game I'll play that'll have that kinda gameplay. I very much enjoyed the shit out of RE:R1, spent way too much time playing raid mode, hope I can do the same in the next game.

It's getting dumbs because he said people who like TLOU are idiots. The Evil Within plays like a mix of RE4 and TLOU made by someone who didn't quite get what made them good. Which is a shame because it isn't a terrible game.
Also, TLOU has fine gameplay, I don't know why so many people have an issue with it.

I may or may not have shot my mouth off before finishing the video

Metro: Last light had better gameplay then it.

Except 'non-zombie infected' have been in the series since Resident Evil 4, albeit in a different fashion, and Ashley was an AI support partner, even if she really didn't actually do much to help. It's still not exactly original, but don't act like The Last of Us was suddenly anything new or unique on its own either.

My issue with Evil Within is that is doesn't do much to stand out, and it really isn't scary. But that's kind of to be expected with Mikami, after all, he did run Resident Evil into the ground because REmake only sold over 1 million units. But that's besides the point. The Evil Within is a fun game, but it just needed to be a bit more unique, it needed to stand out more.
