VICE: Sacrificing journalism to bring you corporate funded shit.
On Wednesday this week, Los Angeles-based writer Charles Davis posted a series of screenshots on Twitter that he claims have come from emails sent by management at Vice, where he worked from December 2012 until last month, according to his resume.
In one apparent exchange, Davis shows an email in which he’s reminded that “basically any mention of a large entity that [Vice] might be marking some kind of business deal with…should get run up the flagpole” before being published.
What a surprise. Yet, so many other outlets do this type of shit anyways. Right?
I thought it's already been known that VICE is just as bad as any other corrupt news affiliations, except every now and then certain sections of VICE have really good informative documentaries and war reports.
Vice occupies the two extremes of journalism; raw, multiple-sided investigative reporting (With a sensationalist spin) and absolute bullshit articles about how to blowjob five dudes at once.

there are so many SH threads on VICE, I never knew they people hated them so much
granted, I've only watched their "popular" vids - the NK one and a few others I don't remember
The whole Gawker network is corrupt. Moots girlfriend works there, coincidence?

Wonder if that was a paid expense treat for that guy. Looked like he was really into it.
Vice is weird, it's like roulette between top-tier war reporting and shitty buzzfeed level drivel.

vice has nothing to do with gawker
I like Vice but I always thought you should take everything ANY journalist site says with a grain of salt.
Vice articles are always either brilliant or out-right terrible blog-esque jargen farted out by some of their more pretentious writers.

Gawker made it's name on calling out bullshit and reporting rumour in the NY area before it moved to wider coverage so it's always been that way. The whole network is garbage.
RT calling out Vice?
That's rich.

I've noticed that the amount of good documentaries has slowly but surely become less frequent and more of their stuff is just total and utter shit.
Vice definitely isn't the best, I remember on their SOFEX coverage you could see the reporter was desperate to try and sensationalize things are much as he could, on their Balkans series essentially amounted to three videos saying Serbia is yugostalgic and run by the mob, and one saying all Bosniaks are islamist militants (they mentioned Croatia and Albania once and never even acknowledged the existence of the other Balkan states), memory serving they also got caught dubbing in audio of children over videos of Israeli military positions, and then of course there was there CoD promo unintentional mockumentary, pretty much all of that was sensationalized beyond meaning, cherry picked, or outright blind speculation on their part. They get really bad at times but ya know what: they sure as hell are better than RT, at least they actually try on occasion, RT couldn't give a weather report without every other sentence being "praise be to Putin".
RT calling out Vice?

Is there any valid reason of why RT cannot "call out" Vice? Besides from that ad hominem you just spewed out that is.
I mean, the principle should be that no news agency should touch a story related to their investors, but I don't think that's what the email meant
I'm pretty sure I saw an article on Vice talking about Professional Wrestling being fake like it was a thing people weren't aware of.

the whole internet blogosphere is rotten to the core, it's not just game journos (though they are the most shameless)

It is a huge conflict of interest especially when people are instructed to have articles about the company's business partners reviewed before they can be published
Vice News is still pretty great, though.

sadly the people doing them are a bit daft yet still are very informative

If you like crap news, click bait trash.. sure why not.
Vice itself is hit or miss, however their sister websites like Motherboard and Munchies are great in my opinion.
Even tho there is a lot of shit. The current coverage of the Ukraine crisis done by VICE is brilliant.
