SAN DIEGO (AP) — Dinosaur fan alert: Steven Spielberg says a fourth "Jurassic Park" film may be only a few years away.
Spielberg told an audience at the Comic-Con fan convention Friday that he has a story and a screenwriter for the next installment of his blockbuster franchise about prehistoric reptiles brought into modern times through cloning.
The filmmaker directed the first two "Jurassic Park" adventures but would be overseeing as a producer this time. He says the film hopefully will come together in the next two or three years.
It was Spielberg's first trip to the sprawling Comic-Con event, where the director and his producing partner, Peter Jackson, showed off footage of their action story "The Adventures of Tintin." It's due in theaters late this year.
edit:
obviously because the three films sold like butter in sunshine
God dammit Spielberg.

They were, 1 and 2 I thought were amazing, 3 is arguable, but I still liked it, Jurassic Park just has an amazing feel because it's iconic for dinosaurs, and very nostalgia inducing in many teenage boys, and it's one of the only series of movies that features dinosaurs as a gigantic plot thing. I personally can't wait for IV, more dinosaurs the better
If they go all CG in this and ruin the dinosaurs I'll kill them.
The fact they used animatronics in combination with CGI in the previous films was what made the dinosaurs and acting great.
I feel optimistic about this.
Spielberg directed the second one? Why was it such a massive piece of shit?
This better be a wintastic prelude or some shit.
After the piles of crap that were 2 and 3 I have little hope for this

I just thought the second one was such a sellout for some reason. It wasn't a horrible movie, but it wasn't very good either
Please Spielberg, please don't fuck this one up. I still have hope in Jurassic Park after this third film. Please, don't make me loose that hope.
I thought the 1st one was amazing, the 2nd one was alright, but the 3rd one sucked. I just hope Spielberg knows what he's doing with this next movie.
I thought the second one was amazing, what you all talking about?
Well, let's all pray to God that this one is a good one, the last one was a big pile of shit.
And I lol'd at OP's avatar.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.
I just recently watched all of the movies again, and I actually dropped my front of hating the third movie. I can see a clear progression in themes across all three of the movies, and they all hold certain ideas and motifs (along with a ton of references to the overall story and past movies.) that are great. They're a lot deeper intellectually than they appear.

Do give some examples. :) With spoiler tags, of course.
I loved the third movie infinitely. But it's easy to argue nostalgia because Jurassic Park is the first movie I can remember watching. But I think this is awesome news and I'm looking forward to it. Hope this news is legit.
He is going to rape this one, like he raped Indiana >:(
They were, 1 and 2 I thought were amazing
I personally hated 2 because it was personally just too silly. Remember the part where the girl says "hey you" to they you to the dino and then after it looks at her she kicks fly kicks it out of a building?
Starring Shia Labeouf.
don't see what good will come of this

Hated that part, but other than that I loved the movie.
Jesus, first they're gonna make it and it's gonna be directed by Joe Johnson, then it's canceled, then it's in development hell, then they're gonna make it again, then Chrichton dies and they're not gonna make it, now they're gonna make it again?
Would be nice if they could make up their minds. But only as long as it doesn't involve Dinosaurs trained to use firearms like the first script...
Kind of scary to think that Jurassic Park will be 20 years old before long, I mean between the three films quite a few of the cast members are dead now.

The Spanish makes the horror real, and what I most fear will happen to Jurassic Park.
Dammit Spielberg, Tintin is going to be a high point in your career, don't ruin it now.
Starring Shia Labeouf.
With transformers that turn into dinosaurs.
THIS TIME ITS GONNA HAVE ALIENS
Will it contain Jeff Goldblum?
I haven't even seen 2 and 3..
Fixing that hole now.
