I thought the way he brought up the comparisons were hilarious. It's good to hear that at least some shooters are still choosing to use the old formula.
He should've played the first 2 to get the full story but yeah, it RE3 does scream Half Life 2. Where as RE 1 & 2 is more like Half Life:Opposing forces.
Oh, god! No health regeneration, No cover shooting, more then a few weapons.
I might just have to get this now.
I bought it, it's alright, I guess.
Something about it feels off. Not sure what.
Just watched it, I think that was it. The story was pretty weak, lack of characters, that sort of thing.
Rest of the game was pretty cool, though. I recommend you try it out- I'm just a bit out of it lately, not even the great games are really catching my attention as much.
I actually had exactly the same reason as Yahtzee not to try Resistance 1 - 3 but... actually it's sounding pretty neat.
This was one of his best in a while. Not saying the others were bad.
I thought the great thing about this series was the cold war era feel in the series?
I lost it when he asked where they had stashed the body.
Ending was fucking fantastic.
The thing is he seems to assume the rest of the resistance games are generic which isn't the case at all. The first allowed you to hold every gun which were silly and non realistic and you didn't have cod style health. I haven't played the 3 but the first 2 resistances definitely felt different then anything out at the time.
Oh my fucking god he liked it
I need this game, WHY is my PS3 broken??
I think the last time yatzhee liked a game that much was Portal 1.

He liked Driver: San Fransisco and Saints Row 2.
-snip-
That was great. I've watched pretty much all of his videos and this one ranks pretty highly among them.
That was great.
Couldn't tell if he actually liked it though.

I think he did, also really enjoyed this review. It was actually a really nice that he decided to mix it up a little this week, best he's done in a while I think.
Surprised the thread doesn't have more comments.
He sounded actually kind of shocked throughout the whole review that he liked the game
now ill buy it i guess

He does like it but he made a point that it kinda use Half-Life (possibly Valve's games in general) as a cheat sheet for good game design.
Although it help them more than going the generic shooter formula.
I haven't played an Insomniac game since Spyro.
I might pick this up.
But Cappelli was a Sential in the Resistance 2. The Sentials were soldiers who were infected with the virus, creating a small force of super soldiers to combat the Chimera.
I wish I had the opportunity to play 1 and 2, oh well, gamefly, bring me some games :v:
i really dislike r1 and 2 but hearing yatzee praise this has gotten me on the fence. might give it a shot. been a while since i've played a FPS without health-regen and that jive
"The protagonist is Joseph Capelli, the man who shot the previous protagonist at the end of the last game, apparently protagonists in this series work in the same way as Roman Emperors"
Ahahahah
Best one he's done in awhile, he sounded like he actually had fun reviewing this. Surprised he liked it too, I was expecting him to do what he does best and tear it to pieces
