In which it also shows off the new Dialogue system that New Vegas 4 and Fallout 3.4 are going to be using, God, we are going to be getting New Vegas AND Fallout 3, all in Fallout 4, just so amazing. Now all we need is a Fallout 4 Tale of Three Wastelands where you can play through all three games all the way through. :v:
While I have no real drive to revisit the capital wasteland and its story this is really cool. Hope they succeed.
I'm gonna have to experiment with having multiple ghosted mod installs when both of these mods come out, at least until there's a bridge mod that acts like TTW. They both look AMAZING and they're gonna be so much fun.
if only fallout 3 were good, but this is still impressive
So glad to see the old weapons, I really hate the forced Artstyle on the weapons in Fallout 4 which completely clashes with the lore.

The only lore unfriendly weapon I know of is the F4 water cooled assault rifle, maybe the combat rifle, also how plasma weapons use special ammo in F4 instead of sharing with lase
Fallout 3 was my first fallout and will always have a special place in my heart as #1.

You can actually see their named after either their caliber or the actual gunbrand, especially in 2. The move from real guns to 1940s but bigger and goofier for Fallout 4 basically redid the entire franchise. [editline]14th January 2018[/editline] Like the only commonalty with any of the previous games was the Laser Rifle, which was a prototype but is instead prominently featured in the intro. [editline]14th January 2018[/editline] Like, honestly, they didn't even do 1950s esque weapons because the 'battle rifle' isn't an M14 but goofier. Its a Browning Automatic Rifle, but goofier. They didn't even get the time period right, the BAR was basically abandoned by the late 1950s for a SAW varient of the the M14 which then get replaced with the M60.
You know what would be a smart business decision by Bethesda? Coming to the developers of these mods and going "Hey, if you guys need to have 3 and New Vegas installed for your mods, what if we released a pack with both of those for sale as well as an easy way to install these mods via the bundles for people who don't normally mod?" Imagine the positive press Bethesda would get from the community and the spotlight that would shed on the mods themselves.
if only fallout 3 were good, but this is still impressive
I'd sooner play Fallout 3 than I would Fallout 4.
I'd sooner play Fallout 3 than I would Fallout 4.
Fallout 4 has serious, serious, SERIOUS problems with nearly all of its story and quests, but the difference in gameplay quality between Fallout 3's version of gamebryo and Fallout 4's version of gamebryo is staggering. Having Fallout New Vegas with Fallout 4's engine and mechanics (plus switching the loot and leveling system to New Vegas's for good measure) is the best of both worlds. Maybe possibly even worth buying Fallout 4 over.
I'm sorry but as much as i used to love Fallout 3, it's gameplay by today's standards is bordering on archaic and i find it nearly unplayable. I just can't enjoy it the same way i did so many years ago. I really hope that this project gets somewhere.
Fallout 3 had alot of interesting sidequests. Agatha's Song, Big Trouble in Big Town, and fittingly The Wasteland Survival Guide come to mind.

But now we can have two of some of the best roleplaying games, New Vegas and Fallout 3 (again despite it's flaws, it's far better than Fallout 4 was in a lot of respects) AND Fallout 4's great shooting. [editline]edit[/editline] Basically the only way to make Fallout 4 good is to take the combat mechanics, remove Fallout 4 and stick in a previous Fallout game entirely. :v:
Fallout 3 was great because it allowed New Vegas to be made :v: It still had some fun quests though and interesting environments to explore (abliet connected through a convoluted subway system) Still their is an itch that just can only be scratched for me by Bethbyro despite how aged and flawed they are compared to RPG's like The Witcher 3. Something about RP aspects (which they started to butcher in Fo4) and a immersive first person world (abliet janky and buggy as fuck) makes it fun.
Can we just agree that The Wasteland Survival Guide was the best quest in all of Fallout 3, DLC included? There were just so many ways to complete it. And the stat bonuses you got at the end actually depended on which solutions you chose.

Might have actual reason to buy Fallout 4 in the near future.

Or play a tale of two wastelands if you care about true ADS.

The only lore unfriendly weapon I know of is the F4 water cooled assault rifle, maybe the combat rifle, also how plasma weapons use special ammo in F4 instead of sharing with lase
Mmm. * Pipe Weapons in general. Not only do these things not really fit the lore...mostly in how they're found in places sealed since pre-war times...but most of them just flat out wouldn't work properly. * Bolt action rifle suddenly has the bolt on the wrong side?! * Gauss Rifle looking NOTHING like any other Gauss Rifle in the entire series? I mean, shit, the one in 3 was a damn good homage to the ones in the 2D games, and yet they pull this shit? I mean, I do like that the Gauss Rifle has a magazine and doesn't dump all of its loaded ammo in one go, but the unfinished junk drawer contraption we get in FO4 is NOTHING like the polished, professionally made specialty military weapons we get in every other entry to the series. * The 10mm pistol is a meathook abortion for sure. It does not resemble the N99 in anything more than a superficial manner. * The AER9 and AEP7 platforms are distinct. Similar, but distinct. They are NOT interchangeable and you cannot turn an AEP7 into an AER9 and vice versa by simply swapping barrels and stocks at a rusty-ass workbench in the middle of Bumfuck, Massachusetts. They don't even share ammo types, the AEP family uses Small Energy Cells while the AER family uses MicroFusion Cells. * Similarly, the Plasma Pistol and Plasma Rifle are seperate platforms that cannot, in lore, be swapped back and forth by a waster with some duct tape and a common screwdriver. Even more damning in thsi regard is the fact that the plasma pistol and the plasma rifle aren't even superficially similar like the AEP7 and AER9 are. And, again, the ammo continuity is off base. PP uses SECs, PR uses MFCs, and nowhere before FO4 are fusion cartridges ever mentioned. * Where the fuck are the SECs that have fuelled small energy weapons for the entire fucking series?! * Where's the DSK501? It's completely absent. You loot a sniper rifle in FO3 or FNV it's the DSK501, as it should be. Loot one in FO4 and it's just billybob's left handed deer rifle. * The Laser Gatling is nothing like what it was in the other games, bulky, obnoxiously oversized, just generally looks like a pain in the dick to carry. And why fuel it with fusion cores again? * Plasma Caster, anyone? Laser RCW? Service Rifle? CAR? Bethesda broke their own fucking lore by omitting the Chinese Assault Rifle, which is about as iconic as Fallout weaponry gets(When you say 'Fallout weaponry' there's a 50-50 chance my mind's eye displays a T-51b soldier carrying a Fat Man or a Vault Dweller in their armored jumpsuit with a CAR on their back). * And what of the R91 Backtalker? They had no problem flooding DC with them but when we come to boston we get that water cooled LMG that calls itself an assault rifle instead?! * 10mm SMG? Where are you? Ok I hated this thing in 3 and NV because it was weak per-shot and inaccurate as hell, but it's an icon of the series as well, and IIRC has been in every major game except 4. In 4 we're expected to make do with an automatic receiver for the 10mm pistol, which itself isn't even lore friendly. And that's just off the top of my head. There's more but I have to fuck off to work in ten minutes so I can't spend much time browsing the Wiki comparing FO4 and FNV/FO3/FO2/FO1 gameplay articles on the weaponry therein.

Also good list but there's two things, some stuff like the laser and plasma weapons being the same was probably for weapon modding, and when they made F4 they did a big overhaul of the artstyle and they probably went a bit flexible with the lore, like the new pip-boy in F4, the 10mm pistol, vault jumpsuits and such. edit: also they may have not wanted just to remake previous weapons in higher res and wanted to make some new stuff.
holy shit fix the lighting i cant see NOTHING [THUMB]https://i.imgur.com/B6z1cKN.png[/THUMB] like i get that this is probably just a localized section where the lighting is extra cloudy/dark, but good lord you can barely make out the details(at least in a vid)
Fallout 3 was my first fallout and will always have a special place in my heart as #1.
I share the same sentiment, adding to the fact that at one point I was at the Capital's Metro Center and had a moment where I said "I've been here before!" IRL. Only that aside from the radiation and the ghouls, nothing really changed. :godzing: Something about the world being mapped in the fashion of something VERY close to home just puts a special place in here.
Fallout 4 is so clearly unfinished to the point where it feels like nearly every feature hit 75% and they were quickly told to "Make it presentable then release".
Honestly, I kind of liked the DC metro system. I knew Bethesda wanted to recreate some of the city landmarks and that the metro system was a good recreation of the real one, but I knew little about the actual city. Every trip through the metro tunnels was intense during my first playthroughs. Arriving at a new station made me chose: do I go to the surface and see what do I find, or do I continue to follow the tracks and see where do I end? Especially when you are still fresh from the Vault, and you are equipped with just tye bare minimum to survive in the wastes. Exploring the tunnels armed with a hunting rifle falling apart, and desperately looking for more ammo was, back in the day, one hell of an experience.

Saw them as samey copypasta tunnels that seldom had anything valuable inside and I often didnt explore Downtown DC very much because of that. By the time I started playing TTW, however I had warmed up to them, and these days I dont mind being down there one bit. Currently roaming through them as it is, currently en route to Seward Square because I explored into the Reilly's Rangers quest during a roam and decided to rescue them. When I wrap that quest up, I'm en route to Takoma, to slay the behemoth there. Gon be fun!
