You should look into South Harmon Institute of Technology.

You sir, deserve a cookie.
Just go into a technical college, work your ass off, and switch to the college you want to go to. Transferring in is a lot easier than getting in from high school most of the time, as there's much less competition.
EDIT: Just don't tank. If you fail your technical college coursework that looks baaaad.

No idea what a technical college is to be honest. Did I mention I'm from Ireland?
To be honest I dont care if I didn't get into that one place, I can still apply and I've got a few backup plans. I just wanted to hear other people's stories.
college is honestly a racket. I wish there were a better way for young people to get a real education.

I know some states in the US have laws that give students with a certain GPA guaranteed admission if they complete two years at a community college and transfer to a university. If your state does have those laws and you maintain a high GPA (~3.5 or-so, usually) then universities have no choice but to accept you when you apply for transfer.
Some states also have guaranteed admission for military veterans. If you've served in the military, take full advantage of the GI Bill too.

Learn a trade. Right now there's a huge lack of people in the US with actual education and experience in a trade. You're almost guaranteed a job somewhere.
I'm still surprised that a place like Venezuela has free university education, and quality one too. I'm enrolled on the Universidad Central de Venezuela, it's a great place...As long as you don't have classes at night.

I know a guy who went to university in Spain. It cost him about $400 per-semester, if I recall. Including books.

another irishman here!
By technical college, he means colleges that reside mostly outside of the CAO system, private colleges that you can use to get into Uni, such as College of Commerce in Cork
I decided I didn't want to go to college yet. Fuck that, not right out of High School. That was living misery. So I got a job at Target and I've got to tell you I LOVE it.

University system in Brazil is free and ridiculously good too. This is coming from me. I've lived in the US for 90% of my life and am going to college here.
Seriously, it's absurd. It costs 21,000 for me to go to college per year. Luckily I'm getting in on some scholarships and qualify for loans and such. Paying about 3 grand a year. Still the college system has me furious. The whole application process is shrouded in a cloud of bullshit, and if you are lucky enough to get past that then you have to deal with exorbitant fees and bullshit policies. After that it's actually pretty enjoyable. I'm having a good first 4 weeks so far.
If a college rejects you, try a community/technical college. Don't sit around doing nothing. Like most people said, a bunch of states have laws about people completing degrees from technical colleges getting guaranteed admission. I know a few kids that transferred here after coming from a community college.
Also, finishing two years at a tech college gives you certification to do work while you get an education at the traditional university.

It's like that for non-citizens as well?
Holy shit I'm goin to spain
I didn't bother applying to any colleges, because I figured my grades were too shitty to get into anywhere good.

Not really, all universities at Venezuela suck. At least the buildings and the classrooms. Although there are some good careers like Medicine, Journalism and Graphic Design.

Non-citizens too, and there also free universities if I recall well.
I applied to six schools. I got accepted to all of them. I got no financial aid, and can't afford tuition to any four year school, not even close, so can't go to any of the six I first applied to anyway.
So now I'm taking classes at a community college and working at the same time to help pay for them.
I got into every university I applied to.
I applied to one. :v:

Only problem is that once you've started at another school, your SAT scores, and high school grades become unimportant.
If I'd gone straight to OU instead of going to another school first, I could have had in-state tuition, and a few hundred in scholarship money on top of that, but now I can't really get anything, even though my grades in college have been decent.

Sadly, it is not designed to revolve around learning.
I never applied for college. I'm working at Taco Bell to save up for junior college. Hopefully, I'll have enough money after nine months of minimum wage for tuition.

jesus christ I'm paddling there in my canoe
Didn't get accepted to any of the schools I applied to. I seriously have nothing to do right now, been looking for a job but nothing so far.. :/

Free universities in Spain? I don't think so, don't you mean Sweden?
Only the first 16 years of education are free and obligatory, assuming you don't have to repeat a year or two.
The Baltics and Scandinavia have free education, I feel bad for you guys who have to pay.

It's almost as if our governments over here want us to be uneducated

College is for chumps.

Sweden would be a better choice then, you get money to buy the books at the start of the year (funny thing is that I only needed 1500SEK for the books, they gave me 4500SEK), then you get 2800 SEK a month (if it's a full time year).

Wait you get fucking payed to attend college there?!
My country can go fuck itself
they said "oh you graduated?" no i decided i was finished
I'm not too sure what to do right now, the three ways I could go right now are drafting, IT and art. I'm considering drafting but I want a more interesting job than modeling parts for machines all day. Art probably won't get me far unless I'm really dedicated and I would love to work with something computer related like sever maintenance, but I'm worried I don't know or have the skills for it.
So I'm not too sure if I'm going to a uni or a collage or any thing like that. I'll wait and see what my results say.
