Christ I wanted to go to OCS this year...
More sad news. Can we have all good news for just one day?

I know I'm coming off as an asshole but this stuff seems pretty common. We had mandatory army time here in Germany and I have a few friends who served and I've heard 2 stories about army dudes trying to shoot themselves/others in the bases, one was successful. I know this is an anecdote but it raises the cases know to me, including this article, to 3 and that's within 3 years. Quite a lot.
Mental instability and easy access to weaponry make for a potent combination. Maybe your military should start giving a shit about the mental health of its soldiers.
If only guns were illegal, these marines could have been alive.

It hasn't even been suspected that that was the problem, let's stop using it as a crutch, is it that hard to believe that some people legitimately commit murder?

This is nothing new or surprising, and always a tragedy. The military is a fucking weird institution.

Double murder suicide!' And you're telling me it may not have been related to mental illness.

They're not credible. You're not going to know the full extent of the suicides caused by these current stressors for another 60 or so years. I mean even look at this section of the article. The article is only aiming to argue semantics in a Guardian article, because it took offence at the word 'epidemic'. Nothing more.
why would you have the time to browse facepunch then? Got proof?
Yea, because soldiers work 24/7 and never get any downtime, because people can work like that
