The two men have a background in the African country of Somalia, but they have lived in the Swedish town of Örebro. The men went down to the country of Iraq in the Middle East to the war with the terrorist group Islamic State, IS. Now the Swedes have been killed.
SÄPO (security police) says that at least 130 people have left Sweden to join ISIS in their war.
"Swedish"
"Swedish"
Are you a racist or something, just because they were born in Somalia but got citizenship here after we gave them refugee from a war doesn't make them non-swedish!
It's so disgusting that these people flee to Sweden for refugee and then decide to go back to war.

Technically they're Swedish but in a cultural sense they don't have a Swedish bone in their body.
This is not really a complicated question. When someone is said to be "Swedish" it can refer to nationality, culture or genetics.
The headline would be misleading, had one not been accustomed to these reports already.
Anyone who leaves their respective countries to fight for IS is no longer part of that nation if you ask me. Good riddance to the ones killed and to the rest I hope that they do not come back.
I fail to see what relevance nationality should be in this matter regardless.
they are extremists/fundamentalists regardless and adding quotation marks to swedish only indoctrinates the notion that people of certain religion or nationality are more prone to terrorism or acts of violence than other.

In the context of the story in the article the headline is leaving out the crucial background (the men being muslim immigrants).
hm, you should totally elaborate on that man
One down, more to go, hopefully.

I would argue that these people never were a part of the Swedish nation, but you may be confusing nation with state.

Showing that we perhaps need a better system at preventing these people in the first place. Säpo has no idea the true number of "Swedes" that have left to fight with ISIS and the same happens with other European countries. It is a very important issue.

what are you proposing exactly? "these people"?
The fact that SÄPO has no idea of the true number of people with Swedish nationalities who join ISIS has nothing to do with nationality or whatever religion you practice
I fail to see what relevance nationality should be in this matter regardless
The relevant part is that islamic terrorism is operating from Western Europe.
True swedish patriot.
SÄPO (security police) says that at least 130 people have left Sweden to join ISIS in their war.
That's just downright disappointing.

How dare I generalize ISIS warriors as being of islamic faith and culture.
That's just downright disappointing.
It's probably much more. Our Intel services are so undeveloped compared to other countries, thanks to the privacy laws I suppose and lack of paranoia. Säpo only knows of those 130 probably because they were the only ones without family in Sweden to continue submitting their aktivitetsstöd.
These two idiots went to my school, I'm glad they got killed.
Fuck ISIS.

More like it just shows where these people came from. It's not like anyone would think that swedes are more prone to terrorism just because of some assholes being sweden citizens.
Why aren't these "terror trips" illegal yet?
Why aren't these "terror trips" illegal yet?
Most of the world has passed legislation to make them illegal, or already have relevant passages in their criminal code that would consider this an act of treason.
Hope they got shot in their testicles and bled out. Kill every single one of those motherfuckers.
Am I the only one who thinks this isn't a game of fucking cat and mouse? I don't mean to put you two in a spotlight, but I just can't help but react to these sort of extreme remarks, really
You are advocating violence, celebrating the death of two individuals, instead of seeking out whatever underlying issues are causing people to commit acts of terrorism, violence, etc
i know this is just an internet forum, no one has to elaborate on their opinion but fuck, saying that you're glad they're dead is weird to me.
Some/most terrorists are born out of countries and communities in extreme conflicts, these are women, men and children who are frustrated with their living conditions and seek answers for their dismay - ISIS are one of the organizations who take advantage of these probably confused people to brainwash them and join their cause in fighting "evil", etc
I am just tired and very often surprised how people generally gets stuck at square 1 with blaming other people and wishing death upon everyone affiliated

Not in Sweden they're not.
At least it's up for discussion at the moment.
Who on earth would leave a civilised country to fight in a war thousands of miles away. It seems so bonkers to me.

But really, I think they view themselves as soldiers as much as any british or american one fighting in another country, but fighting for different reasons of course
they threw away their nationality glad they got killed I feel no sympathy

Why would I feel sorry for any individual who willingly murders innocent people and destroys property?
The more of them that die, the happier I'll be.
I hate how the OP uses the word warrior in the title. Like, at least for me, every time I hear the word warrior I imagine for some reason that 'honour' is also implied. Eg a warrior is an honourable person fighting for a just cause. But ISIS isn't a just cause, and they have no association with honour. Should just call people like this scumbags, because that's what they are.

Australia
Section 80.1 of the Criminal Code, contained in the schedule of the Australian Criminal Code Act 1995, defines treason as follows:
"A person commits an offence, called treason, if the person:
(d) levies war, or does any act preparatory to levying war, against the Commonwealth; or
(e) engages in conduct that assists by any means whatever, with intent to assist, an enemy:
(i) at war with the Commonwealth, whether or not the existence of a state of war has been declared; and
(ii) specified by Proclamation made for the purpose of this paragraph to be an enemy at war with the Commonwealth; or
(f) engages in conduct that assists by any means whatever, with intent to assist:
(i) another country; or
(ii) an organisation;
that is engaged in armed hostilities against the Australian Defence Force; or
(g) instigates a person who is not an Australian citizen to make an armed invasion of the Commonwealth or a Territory of the Commonwealth; or
---
Making it pretty clear cut that joining or assisting ISIS is in violation of this.
Not sure about Sweden's treason laws; I'm assuming they're an archaic text written possibly hundreds of years ago.
