Egyptian leaders have promised to support Gaza against Israeli attacks, as violence escalated for a third day. President Mohammed Mursi said he would not leave Gaza on its own and condemned Israel's "blatant aggression", hours after his prime minister visited Gaza. Israel mounted a huge attack overnight, targeting dozens of locations. Later, Gaza militants targeted Tel Aviv with a missile but there were no casualties. Twenty Palestinians and three Israelis have been killed since Wednesday. Militants and civilians, including at least five children, were among the Palestinian dead, Palestinian officials said. Two Israeli women and a man died when a rocket fired from Gaza hit a building in the southern town of Kiryat Malachi on Thursday, Israeli officials said. The Israeli army began an initial draft of 16,000 reservists on Friday, after the government authorised the call-up of 30,000. Rumours have been swirling that a ground attack is imminent, but Israeli officials have said no decision has yet been made. Israel targeted more than 130 locations in an overnight assault it said was aimed at knocking out rocket-firing facilities. Sporadic Israeli air strikes have continued throughout Friday, and militants in Gaza have fired dozens of rockets. The Israeli city of Tel Aviv, some 75km (45 miles) north of Gaza, came under attack for a second day. A missile launched by militants sparked panic in the city and air-raid sirens once again sounded. The missile appears to have done no harm, with police officials quoted variously as saying it had landed in the sea or in an unpopulated area. It is the first time Tel Aviv has come under attack since the 1991 Gulf War. Analysts say it is the first time Gaza militants have deployed such powerful missiles. It would be nice if they denounced HAMAS as well.
It would be nice if they denounced HAMAS as well.
IIRC The leaders of Egypt (The Muslim Brotherhood) are actually related to Hamas.
IIRC The leaders of Egypt (The Muslim Brotherhood) are actually related to Hamas.
From what I know, they actually sponsor them heavily.
It is the first time Tel Aviv has come under attack since the 1991 Gulf War.
Really Saddam, that's not even the right direction. Back on the issue though if Israel is smart, they won't launch a ground offensive. For bombing the crap out of Gaza, 20 casualties is amazing and it's guaranteed they won't keep that track record if they move soldiers in. It's a minefield in more ways than one and whatever condemnations people may have, escalating this further will only end badly. [editline]17th November 2012[/editline] Also yeah, I can see where Egypt is coming from, but the last thing the Egyptian people want is another war with Israel over this shit. Support can mean anything from supplies to moral encouragement, it isn't necessarily a military guarantee.
Come on UN, make sure Palestine becomes a country, then this shit might stop.
Come on UN, make sure Palestine becomes a country, then this shit might stop.
Israel will block any such attempts through the US.
Israel will block any such attempts through the US.
But observer status goes through the General Assembly (They're applying for non-member observer status, right?), not the Security Council with it's bullshit vetoes. And most of the world has already stated that they would support Palestine as a nation.
Come on UN, make sure Palestine becomes a country, then this shit might stop.
Oh not at all. Palestine can become a country, and I'm all for that, but the fighting will not get better and it will not stop. While the story is more complicated and involves both Jordan and Syria, the most relevant bit to bring up is the fact that the group attacking Israel right now, Hamas, wants Israel to cease to exist completely, and they'll keep fighting until that happens.

Hamas controls Gaza and prefer to launch rockets than try diplomacy. They are separate and the issues are unrelated. Personally I'm for the PLO turning into a legitimate state with them eventually annexing Gaza and removing Hamas, but it's more likely to turn out otherwise.

The issue in the middle east is no one wants to just shut the fuck up
Gimme a map of that area with all the borders and shit,i know how to fix this
The issue in the middle east is no one wants to just shut the fuck up
Or you know, its pretty much a made up region that has been fucked over by literally everyone for the past two centuries.
Oh god I can see a clusterfuck arising.
World War 3: Electric Boogaloo :v:
Then the USA will triple it's jew hating muslim loving relationship. Then Someone will invade egypt. Then we have a jihad!! FUN FUN FUN!! I always wanted a Jihad.
Its a pre-election stunt. The assassinated commander was an ally to Israel and brought a severe reduction in rocketfire from Gaza, the commander and Israel were in the middle of peace mediation and then he was killed as his peace draft was about to be presented to Israel, now that opportunity is long gone. All so Netanyahu can get a few more votes in the elections.
Or you know, its pretty much a made up region that has been fucked over by literally everyone for the past two centuries.
Even if it is because of all the armies that have been through there you would assume after 20 years of trying to outsell more rockets then Israel at the bake-sale of death; someone would have thought for one fucking moment "Hey, maybe throwing rockets at Israel isn't such a great idea" No, no, no, they are just going to keep fighting over the offense of Zion when probably none of the fighters left in HAMAS were alive when that offense was made.

Shitty rockets that an angry kid at space camp could make(literally made of sugar, fertilizer, and piss) are not the primary concern here
I wonder what will happen in the middle east goes into full scale war?
I wonder what will happen in the middle east goes into full scale war?
Israel launches its nukes
Israel launches its nukes
Where?
Where?
North Korea. Clearly.
Where?
at other middle eastern countries http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samson_Option [editline]16th November 2012[/editline] Israeli nuclear bombs were literally sitting in planes ready to launch at a moment's notice during the Yom Kippur War before Egypt was anywhere near their borders.
let's support these delusional, clinically insane, sadistic, towel wearing neo-nazis and condemn the israelis who want to be able to live in peace without constantly being under threat by heavily armed over-grown children that spam death threats at anyone who acknowledges their existence. egypt, you're shit.

How safe do you think the northern West Bank, specifically Jenin, is for civilians? I sponsor an eight year old boy in Jenin and I just hope he'll be safe.
