Looks interesting, if it goes anywhere beyond a proof of concept.
Refreshing concept, hope it happens.
If this goes anywhere, this would easily be an easy contender for film of the year and possibly film of the decade.
EDITED:
Well, not decade. That was stupid of me.
i got star wars prequel vibes off this.
there's always a bigger fish
or in this case, giant flying space monster thing
The camera pan that pretty much betrayed it with "yep, it is going to pop up from directly beneath" kinda killed potential surprise.
Honestly, overall, I have hard time seeing this as something that would support a whole plot of a full movie on it's own, but it could be an interesting set piece or plot element to a bigger picture.

"Moby Dick in Space" doesn't cut the mustard for me.
This is basically Dune.
Bloody awesome.
space whale hunters?
fuck yeah
also those ships looked sexy as fuck
The concept reminds me a lot of dune too, it's a flying Shai-Hulud with less spice and more space travel powered by eggs.
Oh man, this looks sweet. I'm a sucker for scifi, and an even bigger sucker for gargantuan monsters.
I hope this goes further than just a proof of concept.
Man there ain't no way I'd be going to hunt a fucker like that on a ship that has an open roof, no harnesses and no parachutes.
Those people are idiots and deserved to get eaten by the impossibly flying beast.
Why don't they just kill them from orbit?

from what i gathered those "space whales" have something inside them that the hunters want
so it's the same reason why you don't filet a fish using a grenade.
It is basicly Moby Dick, but in ..... SPACE
Could be hunting an alien life form that is on a gas giant planet or something.
Got a good Dune vibe. Looks pretty cool.
the spice must flow

Parachutes might be utterly useless depending on what's below them to land on, but the lack of harnesses made me chuckle too. I'm more curious what kind of reason they'll come up with for the ships lacking any form of radar/FLIR/other ways to detect the creatures besides looking around for them.

To be fair that type of shot is a cliche for a reason. It wins.
From the premise at the beginning, I was hoping for seriously giant creatures (as in 50 - 100km+) that mostly lived in space rather than on planets, because they would be crushed under their own weight if they were affected by that much gravity.
Maybe that one was just a baby though, I dunno. Still looks pretty cool

It's prison labour. Work is made harder and more dangerous than it needs to be in order to punish convicts.

I'm not sure why this would crush them.
Staying still with that thing lurking in the clouds was a bad idea.
I would see this movie. Giant monster vs ship fights are awesome!

square-cubed law, son

What's the implication?
I'm not sure why this would crush them.
I mean it doesn't have to necessarily, something that huge would have a ton of mass but it's already sci-fi about alien eggs that enable ftl travel so anything goes. I was just hoping they would be way bigger and hang out in space instead of on planets

That's really dumb/unlikely, especially if it's the only way to get such an important resource. There's a difference between not caring much about safety and deliberately not using simple tech just to make things unreasonably difficult.
I don't even care if the concept is simple or if it's been done before. When it comes to sci fi films focused on beautiful visuals I'll take quantity over quality, I just want to see more of them being made.
