what's some good christian music?
I need ONLY christian music, because I will not listen to any UN-christian music.
No offense, if you're not trolling, but facepunch is a bad place to ask for those kind of things.
How exactly would you define christian- and unchristian music?
This is the best ever. Makes me wanna go all christian and stuff:
✝ Stryper - In God We Trust ✝

The scream at 2:42 is godlike.
Cannibal Corpse - Entrails Ripped From A Virgin's Cunt
Serious christian music that's good:
Snow by Spock's Beard
All of Neal Morse's solo prog albums.
I'm an atheist and generally disregard christian music as juvenile and pointless, but Neal Morse talks less about the conversion and more about the message and how it applies to him. The lyrics are inspiring and the music is awesome.
troll lol
Mike Doughty is pretty cool.
I'm not Christian but the way I figure it, if a musician is good a musician is good. I couldn't give a damn what they believe as long as they play from their heart.

Jeremy Camp
Killswitch Engage make some good songs with christian themed lyrics.

And Demon Hunter also makes some enjoyable Christian Metal.

Although that is my opinion, still it's christian music and you did not ask for a specific genre.
"God Hates Us All" - By Slayer

:downs:
That really depends on what kind of music you like, "Christian music" is not really a genre.
I know it's a troll thread but there's a couple good ones that I know.
Knockin' on Heaven's Door - Bob Dylan
Levon - Elton John
Salvation - Elton John
(I know Elton John not the most popular fella in the Christian community, but he did a few religious songs in his early days)
Oh yeah also forgot to post some Skillet.

And I forgot this.

Stryper as already mentioned. They have some sick music.
A lot of people like Flyleaf.
There are a lot of Christian bands that I do not like very much, but others do, so Third Day, Switchfoot, Casting Crowns, Skillet, and others.
Christian music isn't really a genre, it's more just a classification of the lyrics that allows the consumer to know that the message is generally about religion and it has a positive message.
Personally I do not care about the message in a song or the lyrics really, if the music is good, the song is good. But the majority of people put far more emphasis on the lyrics than the music, which is why this kind of stuff is so important to them.
Gospel is a genre.
Yes, but it doesn't need to have positive messages or be about religion for it to be gospel. It is the style of singing and song that defines that type of music. We often associate the common themes with particular genres, but I don't believe the theme defines genre at all.
Consider this, you listen to some music that is not in a language you know. Based off the sound of it you can classify it. Would it make sense to look at the lyrics so you can depict a more classification? Lets say the music sounds like metal because of the distorted guitars, harsher vocals sounds, and because you can just identify what metal sounds like. Would knowing what the singer was saying having any affect on your thought that the music is metal. Just to provide another example, gospel music has a distinct sound, I believe you'd be able to a say a song was gospel even if the lyrics were in a different language.
Pretty much what I'm arguing is that lyrical contents do not define the style of the song. Genres usually have certain themes about them, but I believe that a song done in the same style of a certain genre with a theme that is usually opposite of that genre should still be classified as that genre. I'm rambling a lot, but I'm hoping my point gets across.
You don't have to be religious to believe in God, be more metaphorical instead of scientific.
An artform if you like, just like what music is.
Alright, I have no idea what you're arguing from, so I'll just assume I misunderstood your first point.
I'm not arguing with you :buddy:
Gospel, god I love it!

The spirit, the soul in that... There's nothing like it!
If you want to get really heavy, try some unblack metal. It's the God loving equivalent of black metal and some of it isn't half bad.

To be honest I'm not a huge fan of black metal, I listen to a bit of Emperor, Immortal and early Satyricon every now and then but that's about it. I just thought this would be an interesting bit of content to contribute.
