Holy shit. That was seriously impressive. I watched the documentary and sometimes, he goes ape shit and answers everything wrong. It is hilarious.
If everything is programmed into it, how is that fair?
But he has all the answers programmed into him. So what's the point, that's like giving a human the answer sheet and marveling when he gets them all correct.
Yeah... This isn't so impressive in 2011. You can take a keyword from a question, search it on wikipedia and get the answer in seconds. Just optimize that and that's pretty much what we've been shown.
The robot isn't connected to the internet. Also, what documentary?
Yeah not impressed by computers knowing something.
I would unplug it during the commercial break.
The robot isn't connected to the internet. Also, what documentary?
It's said that he has a database filled with trivia data. It's still the same thing.

We've come a long way. How fucking amazed would you think someone from the '50s would be by this? Someone from the '80s, even? [editline]14th January 2011[/editline] People need to stop taking technology for granted. Damn.
What is purple
Let's finish "Chick's Dig Me."
If everything is programmed into it, how is that fair?
hey everybody i know nothing about anything please give me boxes [editline]15th January 2011[/editline]
It's said that he has a database filled with trivia data. I find IBM's challenge's extremely exciting. Because it's the forefront of computer Ai and engineering. For a computer to listen to a person and actually understand what they are saying, it's like science fiction. I feel like I'm seeing the flying car or the lazer szapper from the future when I see this kind of stuff.
One step closer to robot domination.
It's said that he has a database filled with trivia data. It's still the same thing.
The computer is filled with normal literature, documentation, research papers, etc. The wonder of the machine is the software that can interpret it. The point is to try and interpret normal language how humans think and interact, not to be a brain machine and be an just a encyclopedia, but to be able to communicate and interpret like we do. All the information it has is stored on it.
hmmm atleast the humans are putting up a good fight
What happens if you tell it it's wrong. even though it got it right?
"Lets finish 'chicks dig me'." Gave that bitch a supercomputer, bitches love supercomputers.
Watson is such a good name for a supercomputer too.
The amazing thing about this is not supposed to be the fact that all the information is programmed into it. It's the ability that the bot is able to interpret and understand the question, and being able to associate it with the correct answer.
hmmm atleast the humans are putting up a good fight
At least we know that when the machines take over not all is lost.

The robot understands fluent english. You can't imagine how it is difficult for a machine to understand fluent launguage. Watch this: It's a science-fiction movie. In that movie there is a robot that can ask "Sam is everything all right" (2:00) and He didn't need to say or type ""Me" fought "Him". "Him" = angry. "Him" destroyed "My model". Answer: How many hours "Me" have worked with "My Model?". You could just say "Yaa we had a fight. Me and de other guy me awrerweer.... ffff... he's vary angry, ya kno? what he did? he flipped my entire model over! kn much work i put in that thin?" and the robot understands every single point that the guy said. Well this was in a fiction movie in 2009. Ofcourse it's impossible in real life. No wait. IT IS POSSIBLE NOW - That's what the robot in the OP's video was doing exactly! Fucking science! He still can't think, but at least it understands everything.
Patcher, Moon was released in 2009.
What happens if you tell it it's wrong. even though it got it right?
He kills you.
I would have peed on it... 3:35 Harold and the Where The Wild Things Are Crayon
