Senior rebel leader Aleksander Borodai signed them over to the Malaysian experts at a meeting in the city of Donetsk. The head of the Malaysian delegation told reporters that the recorders were "in good condition".
that's nice, hope we get enough info to get a definitive answer as to what happened
I wonder if they have the ability to modify the black box. I hope it hasn't been tampered with.
Now to see if it's all there.
Optimistic, but still ready for war.
Wait, did the separatists not just recently announce nothing had been removed by them from the crash site? Am I missing something? This was when they were accused of precisely this - scavenging the black box to hide details. Enlighten me please.

Watch the Malaysian officials play what they got from the rebels and have it sound like; "Oh Niet! The missiles are coming from Ukranian Soldiers! Please be killing them Russia! Long live Russia!" -Repeating-
I wonder if they have the ability to modify the black box. There's a possibility that when the missile hit they didn't break up immediately so the CVR might of recorded the pilots reaction, I doubt it but there's a possibility
They are not THAT stupid, they wouldn't have given them if there was any material that makes them look bad on the boxes.
There's a possibility that when the missile hit they didn't break up immediately so the CVR might of recorded the pilots reaction, I doubt it but there's a possibility
probably depends where the missile hit
probably depends where the missile hit
Well yeah if they took it to the face it would be a bit difficult to respond :eng101:
probably depends where the missile hit
They'll be able to determine it with the CVR and FDR, if there is no more recording then the plane broke up immediately If it didn't then it hit another area of the plane (possibly the tail) which would of caused huge decompression only to blow up later But they still need access to the wreckage to piece the puzzle together, knowing the entire debacle I wouldn't be surprised if the rebels throughout/hid pieces that indicated a missile
I can only sum premises and come to the conclussion that somehow the Ukranians fucked up hard. If and only if the rebels had access to the recordings/info makes this conclussion somehow...realistic. Think about, if you know this proves you blew a plane...why give it away...why not make them...."dissapear" such as if they were stolen

That would be rather irrational.
Do you think we should assume that if the investigation does not point towards the rebels that evidence must have been tampered with? That would be rather irrational.
Im not saying that, im saying, why, IF YOU KNEW (see IF ONLY IF) the contents of that black box, and they blamed you for the attack, would you give them away....
Im not saying that, im saying, why, IF YOU KNEW (see IF ONLY IF) the contents of that black box, and they blamed you for the attack, would you give them away....
yet hiding it only further incriminates yourself, so really there is nothing a person can do other than turn over the evidence and hope for the best.
Am I the only one disappointed that the *black* box is orange?
Am I the only one disappointed that the *black* box is orange?
All black boxes are orange, so you can find them
All black boxes are orange, so you can find them
So why IS it called a black box?
Am I the only one disappointed that the *black* box is orange?
Is black boxes being orange news to you? Did you seriously think it practical for emergency equipment to be one of the most universally hard to spot colours out there?
So why IS it called a black box?
They used to be painted black until the 60s [editline]22nd July 2014[/editline] Actually no one knows why https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flight_recorder#Terminology
Probably for added alliterative appeal

Let's be realistic here, with some limited knowledge on passenger jets, I'm guessing black boxes don't record anything to do with projectiles nearby, which means there'd be no way of knowing where the missile came from, who it was made by, or any other info useful in determining who shot the plane down. I could be missing something here but I fail to see the benefit the info on the black box could provide, other than the precise time/location the impact occurred If an expert could chime in on what exactly the black boxes could tell us, I'd appreciate it
For this the cockpit voice recorder would provide more useful info than the blackbox, since we are all but sure it was an external threat.

It's standard procedure to analyze the black boxes after any incident.
