[ve3d]Ubisoft Releasing Sequels Every 12-18 Months
50 replies, posted
Ubisoft will be copying Activision's frequent-sequel policy, but just how often is "frequent?" Try every 12-18 months:
"We're organising ourselves towards that strategy - providing you can create something innovative every year that can surprise the end user and please your gamers," said European MD Alain Corre, in an interview published today. "Then you can consider releasing a SKU every 12-18 months - but it needs to be different enough from the previous SKU to make sure you're not tiring the franchise or the consumers.
"The Call of Duty example is the best around - they've been able over the past five years to iterate every year with growing success each time. They never compromise on quality, which is exactly what we're trying to do with our brands now."

I hate rushed releases you need to spend time on each one and nuture it like a baby
Dont go Bobby Kotick on us!
wow a new game a year how original :downs:
We shall now go over to EA
I don't mind that they want to release something every 12-18 months. But it better be of quality and not rushed.

Good luck with that.

I don't really think so
Personally, I don't give a fuck, if I don't think a new campaign and whatnot is worth x dollars, then I won't buy it. But I always like seeing what happens afterward, so..
It's gonna be funny in a year or two when Activision is the shitty company that every hates and EA is the gentle giant. Activision is already the shitty company but EA isn't quite nice enough to hug yet.
EA has improved A LOT though. You gotta give em credit.
What.
I'm sorry but CoD's quality has dropped drastically since WaW. You're completely right.

You can't really count Half Life 2 or Crysis as an EA game. They just publish them.
UbiSoft game art is fucking terrible
[editline]03:49PM[/editline]
they manage to make all their games look like shit (or at least R6V2)

Oh well with that train of thought in mind, everything EA publish isn't an EA game.

It's all in your fucking head. People on this forum confuse their opinions with factuality.

Left 4 Dead 2.

Isn't that what Valve said Episodic Content was about though?
Oh wait.
Oh well with that train of thought in mind, everything EA publish isn't an EA game.
But they actually own DICE who makes Battlefield and all those shitty sports games and much more studios.
Mass Effect 3 (EA) AND Assassin's Creed III (UBI) in 2011.
Spoilt for choice.
I know that the devs won't compromise on the quality of these games.
Like someone said, setting a time frame is stupid, just work on the game until you think it's perfect, don't rush it out at the end because you want a 12-18 month schedule.

STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl :v:
Hasn't the industry learned anything from Valve? A good game takes years of work by people who care about what they do.
Last good NFS game was Underground 2.
You have to realize the Ubisoft is the company that is producing an "innovative new DRM scheme" that forces all customers to be online for the game to even start up

That will kill their sales. and PC gaming forever.
I bet they'll call it Water Vapor or something like that.
