Hey fellas,
Im looking for a new project. Build a kit car
Kinda spoilt for choice and not sure which to go for. I like the specs of caterhams but im wondering if there is something better. The kit car I plan to enter in a couple of fun rally stages.
And yes. I do want to build the car myself.
So opinions anyone?
Bad idea just seems like a bad idea

Why don't you restore a muscle car?
Personally, I'd ditch the idea. You'd have a lot more fun buying a normal car and tuning it to do rallying. Stripping the interior, welding a roll cage, engine swaps, all kinds of stuff is there for you to do. That's just me anyway. If you're serious about the idea, you don't really get much better than Caterhams and the variants.
Nothing wrong with it. I love working on cars. Hell if i choose a caterham I could whack a honda S2000 engine in it.

If you have the money to do this, go for it. I'd love to see one an N/A screamer like that running at 9,000RPM in something as small as a caterham.
Im not much for muscle cars. And have already restored a car. This will be my new pet project to do over the summer. Im in Australia.
Restore a 1965-1969 mustang fastback (or Coupe even). You will not regret it.
I guess you don't like muscle cars... in that case you will need to invest in some tampons.

Im fairly sure its possible. Love a high revving engine.
I also considered building a kit car... But for what it's worth, you need alot of time, know how, and friends.
I lack all 3, so that scrapped my idea for a kit car. Got a jeep instead.

Those types of cars are hard to find around here. Restored a mini cooper S. Which I have a hell of a lot of fun in.
My dad's building a seven based car.
It wasn't kit form, he bought materials, made his own moulds (for front nose, rear wheel arches), chassis, body panels.
Has a 1.3l engine from a mk2 Escort.

Is that engine running 64 bit or is it 32?

Can't say I didn't expect that.
Audi A4...?
In Britain the cheap ones use a Sierra engine
Or a 2CV engine.
The Lancia Stratos kit car they showed on Top Gear recently?

Kit cars are fun. I had a few planned awhile ago that I never really got around to working on.
Buy yourself a pontiac fiero (just find one with a good frame, the body can be damaged as you are getting rid of it anyway.). You can get lambo, ferarri ect ect kits for them.
