Last year we were asked to write a theme tune for the Bond movie Spectre.
Yes we were. It didn’t work out, but became something of our own, which we love very much.
As the year closes we thought you might like to hear it.
Merry Christmas. May the force be with you.
Writing's On The Wall for comparison

Shame, Writing on the Wall wasn't very good.
I thought Spectre's theme track was alright but after hearing this one, this definitely would've been a better choice over Sam Smith
I think I prefer Writing's on the Wall
I liked Sam Smith better.
I feel as if doing the drums differently would've made it loads better.
It's a better song than what we got but I feel it's a less of a "Bond song" than Smith's and ultimately still weak compared to the other Craig's Bond songs.
That lisp at 1:36 holy shit thats funny.
Skyfall best bond song
Sam Smith's song wasn't very good, but it captured the whole Bond-esque theme with it's opening and instrumentals. Radiohead's was good at the first, then he starts singing and it loses the whole Bond feeling. The drum beat in the back didn't help it at all. He's honestly pretty incomprehensible singing, which is not something that has ever really been a feature of a bond theme.
I can see why it wasn't picked. A bond theme is usually a lot catchier and a lot safer than that.
At the end of the day they need a pop song that will get played in and out on most radio stations. Inoffensive and easy to listen to. That way it publicizes the film every time it's played. This Radiohead track is a bit too different for any of that. It wouldn't fit on most radio stations in the UK at least. I can see why they shot it down.
I am curious who else recorded one. Shirley Bassey made one for Quantum of Solace. Pulp made one for Tomorrow Never Dies.
I don't like both of them. You Know My Name was the best bond song.

yes
And it had the best intro sequence.
Music aside, I actually like the lyrics to Radiohead's song way more than Smith's.
I'm lost, I'm a ghost
Dispossessed, taken host
My hunger burns a bullet hole
A spectre of my mortal soul
These rumors and suspicion
Anger is a poison
The only truth that I could see
Is when you put your lips to me
Futures tricked by the past
Spectre, how he laughs
Fear puts a spell on us
Always second-guessing love
My hunger burns a bullet hole
A spectre of my mortal soul
The only truth that I can see
Spectre has come for me
imagine if they didnt try to play it safe

the execs
sounds very nice in my opinion, a bit different than usual but still nice.
its like a mix between pyramid song and house of cards
his voice puts me off
The best Bond themes are almost minimalistic, Skyfall is pretty sparse in terms of backing sounds and such since Adele just takes it away. Radiohead's track just seems off, to me. Its a bit too busy and noisy, lots of washy reverb sounds and dense background instrumentation. Sam Smith's wasn't much better, but it fits better with what I imagine as the sound aesthetic of the Bond films.
idk what im saying though
I really like the older Bond songs so much more, even the original one was great
I actually like Quantum of Solace theme song.
"Another Way to Die" is a song by American rock musician and singer Jack White and American R&B singer Alicia Keys.
AND... I just found out it was written by Jack White. Oh my god that be why I like it. I love me some alt rock especially Jack White.
I'm a big fan of Radiohead and Thom's voice is beautiful to me, so I'd really have preferred their song.
I still think Alice Cooper would make an awesome theme.

i like radiohead but that sounds nothing like a bond song
writing on the wall is obviously not great but the music definitely feels bond-like
Writing's on the wall is good until he goes high pitched.
Someone edited the Radiohead song into the Spectre title sequence.

Aight that would have been pretty cool
This was honestly the best Christmas present I've got since I'm a fucking huge Radiohead fan. Also fucking smurfy I knew if it wasn't me posting it, it would be you :v:
I feel like it may not sound much like a 'bond' song but it defiantly captures the word 'specter' far, far better with Thom's haunting singing and RadioHead's production.
Neither one is a pretty good bond song, the one we ended up with sounded better though. Its sort of a shame because they've been pretty good with the other bond songs in the Craig movies but spectre they were trying something different and its OK but not as great as skyfall or casino royal
Quantum of Solace had the best intro, and sam smith should be court ordered to never try to hit high notes again.
