Needle found in sandwich on Air Canada flight from Victoria to Toronto

He says the airline contacted its caterers as soon as it learned about Monday’s needle discovery.

Fitzpatrick says a “full investigation” is underway and the airline is co-operating with police looking into the incident.

He says the airline has not received any further reports of similar incidents.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for Dutch police investigating how needles got into six turkey sandwiches on Delta Air Lines flights from Amsterdam to U.S. cities last month says it’s too early to tell whether there’s any direct connection with the Air Canada incident.

Dutch police officer Robert van Kapel said Dutch investigators have been interrogating witnesses in the chain of people who had access to the Delta sandwiches, and were examining the actual sandwiches Wednesday.

He said it was too early to rule out a copycat or link with the Air Canada incident.[/quote]
