Massachusetts man admits to faking hate crime 'to raise awareness'
In the latest case of a faked hate crime, a 20-year-old man has admitted he made it up when he told Malden cops he was harassed by two men proclaiming it’s “Trump country now.”
The man, whose name police have not released, had filed a complaint saying when he got off an MBTA bus near Broadway Square in Malden at 10 p.m. Tuesday, at least two white men approached him.
The men used a racial slur, made a reference to lynching and warned him this is Donald “Trump country now,” according to the report he gave police. He was able to get away from the men and hid before calling police, officials said.
Investigators prioritized resources for the suspected “hate crime” incident and re-interviewed the alleged victim.
“As a result, it has been determined that the story was completely fabricated,” Malden police Chief Kevin Molis said in a statement. “The alleged victim admitted that he had made up the entire story,” saying he wanted to “raise awareness about things that are going on around the country.”
Police informed the man of the legal consequences of filing a false police report and warned him of the potential damaging impact that they had on the local community.
What a waste of police resources
Why would you do this.
Idiots, idiots everywhere.
Doing this kind of shit only wastes time and belittles actual issues.
It's telling that people have to resort to faking hate crimes to spread "awareness". You'd think they would look for an actual hate crime and maybe reevaluate their position if they can't find one instead of making one up.

So in order to raise awareness about things that were going on, you faked one of said things that were going on.
Aren't you just the sharpest tool in the shed?
People who fake crime reports make it that much harder for people to believe when real victims come forward.
Its why I stopped believing any crime reported in the media unless it was actually confirmed by the police. Because there are too many who do such things.
They harm their own cause way more than any opposition they have.

Why? Same reason governments commit false-flag actions. Dont like a particular group? Do something heinous under the guise that it was them in order to bring dissident upon them.
Surprising... That happens way more often than you think.

I think it's strange to compare false flags to one idiot's stupid crusade, but I guess?
I don't know, people are fucking stupid. If he wanted to raise awareness why not help with a real case?
Not only is this a waste of law enforcement resources, it hurts your movement more than it helps.

The comparison between the two was more or less meant to highlight the purpose, not so much the difference in their real life application.

I live in Massachusetts, there's been an upswing in actual abusive language, including a gay mayor who's gotten threats, so this guy had no reason to fake this to raise "awareness." Now it'll make people question the true reports in this state. Thanks man.
Guys, he is raising awareness about people around the country making false claims, duh.

At least here on these forums i've really only seen videos of it going one way (towards trump supporters). Not that it isn't happening but that video is the highest standard of evidence and the multiple examples with absence of the opposite tells me its happening in higher proportion in one direction. "abusive language" and vague internet threats are unfortunately universal and i get the feeling people dont care unless there is physical violence involved, hence the need to fake this.
Basically what im saying is that these people are faking examples of getting mugged, attacked etc because there really aren't very many irrefutable examples and they are trying to make up for it with volume.
edit: Reminder for everyone that just because anti-trump people are getting violent after trump won, doesn't mean we couldn't have had a similar reaction from the anti-clinton people had the outcome been different. This isn't an excuse to start judging
The state should sue that guy, and use this test case to raise awareness about abusing the already overloaded justice system to push your own petty agenda, which in turn pulls away the already sparse resources from people who actually need it.
Victim complex so strong you have to fabricate crimes that never happened.
There's been dozens of these incidents which have turned out to be fake. In fact, most of the violence is coming from the anti-Trump side.

The problem is the only "things that are going on" are coming from your own side you criminal.
This is why I hate massachussetts.

The boy who cried wolf.
Sad thing is when the wolf appears.
one guy cries wolf but that doesn't really mean that everybody else in the country reporting hate crimes involving extreme trump supporters are lying also

"you criminal."
You realize if you lost it'd probably be the other way around lol. Guess what, people act like shit when they lose.
Also there hasn't really been enough time to really determine which side has been genuinely doing it the most. And it's amusing that the news the left-leaning people on FP seem to be posting most often actually has to deal with the man himself, and what Trump supporters are posting is random people acting like shit, just based on the front page or two of SH, but you know, that's just my observation.
I remember getting told off for telling people not to blindly believe this guy until theres actual proof of his claims.

Seriously, this. It's very difficult to convince the alt-right that there is a hate crime problem when you allow them to exploit red herrings like this.
