Fueled by speculation that a bitcoin ETF could be approved by the Securities and Exchange Commission in the next week or so, the price of bitcoin has risen steadily, finally surpassing the cost of an ounce of gold on Thursday. As of press time, one Bitcoin was worth $1,273 according to CoinDesk's Bitcoin Price Index, and an ounce of gold was worth $1,244, according to precious metals retailer APMEX. The market capitalization of all outstanding bitcoin also surpassed $20 billion for the first time in bitcoin's history, according to Coinmarketcap.
https://www.forbes.com/sites/laurashin/2017/03/02/1-bitcoin-is-now-worth-more-than-an-ounce-of-gold/#15a737050f45
Is now the time to quickly buy a few and wait?
Is now the time to quickly buy a few and wait?
I rate this post late [editline]a[/editline] Really though you should have bought it when the bubble burst.
Is now the time to quickly buy a few and wait?
By the time something is reported in the media you're usually too late.
Is now the time to quickly buy a few and wait?
That time has long since passed
MERGE
Is now the time to quickly buy a few and wait?
Probably better looking at the other crypto currencies that are cheaper but experiencing rapid growth like Dash or Ether.
Every day i regret not getting into bitcoin when it was $5 a coin
Every day i regret not getting into bitcoin when it was $5 a coin
I had the option at one point to buy something like 500 for £20. My dad was like "no it's a scam and stupid" It's the one piece of advice of his I really wished I had never listened to.

[sp]Going off a very quick, lazy google conversion search[/sp]
I think the biggest kick in the teeth is knowing a guy who made close to a million dollars in bitcoin

We both regret it.
Realistically, even if people in this thread did have the foresight to get bitcoins, they would have sold them off long before they reached this price, considering its instability and how many times people predicted the bubble to burst already.
I think the biggest kick in the teeth is knowing a guy who made close to a million dollars in bitcoin
is it even possible to safely cash out something like that? every bit of bitcoin news like this is supplemented by how fucking shady shit is, like exchanges ripping people off, getting hacked, or shutting down
hell if i know, he cashed out years ago
I'm sure there were startup penny stocks you guys could also have piled your money into and gotten a huge return on. With the benefit of hindsight it seems so simple, except it was a shitty investment back then and any success would have been dumb luck. Similar to bitcoin. Except with stocks you can get your money pretty easily. From what I can see, getting large amounts of money out of bitcoin isn't usually that simple.
Somewhere out there I have 2.6 bitcoins Maybe this summer I'll go home and dig through my old hard drives
I still have one of those physical Bitcoins here in my room. I wonder...
Imagine the guy who invested in bitcoin from the start
There was a FP user that had several hundred BTC who used to post in SH, IIRC. Forgot the name.
i made $25 off of this jump in price
There was a FP user that had several hundred BTC who used to post in SH, IIRC. Forgot the name.
Turing had a whole bunch, he made lots of money the last time the value was peaking. Some FP users tried to steal them from him too. Didn't go too well for them.

I lost a harddrive with ~25BTC on it a fair few years ago when they were worth a few dollars each. Every time this happens I cry a little.
