The hybrid diesel and solar power electricity system was installed last year in remote Jubbet al-Dhib, a village home to 150 people in an area of the West Bank occupied by Israel. The panels were not built with proper permits and permissions, the authorities said, confiscating equipment belonging to the £307,000 humanitarian project last week.
That's a really dick move by Israel, what harm are solar panels doing.
The panels were not built with proper permits and permissions, the authorities said, confiscating equipment belonging to the £307,000 humanitarian project last week.
Oh the supreme and unwavering irony of everything that Israel does..
The panels were not built with proper permits and permissions, the authorities said.
Yeah right, I'm sure that's the reason.
Didn't get permits, didn't get permission, and then whine when it gets taken down. What did they expect?
Didn't get permits, didn't get permission, and then whine when it gets taken down. What did they expect?
I doubt that they would have gotten the permits in the first place.
Didn't get permits, didn't get permission, and then whine when it gets taken down. What did they expect?
For their neighbors to not come over and tell them how to do things. Fuck off Israel.
Not being shit on by a neighboring country that wants to exterminate them.
Believe me, if Israel wanted to kill all of the Palestinians, we would already done it. [editline]3rd July 2017[/editline]
I doubt that they would have gotten the permits in the first place.
Eh, depends. Regardless, if they had requested the permit first and then done this, I would understand but they didn't even bother to request the permit.
Believe me, if Israel wanted to kill all of the Palestinians, we would already done it.
You keep on saying this, and yet it's possibly the worst rebuttal to all the evidence other than the graph you shared recently
What's this "we", US citizen?
dual citizenships exist?
dual citizenships exist?
That explains your bias and absolution of Israel's antagonizing and harmful behavior in every thread.
You keep on saying this, and yet it's possibly the worst rebuttal to all the evidence other than the graph you shared recently
Palestinian population has gone up constantly and Israel provides free healthcare for Palestinian Arab citizens. We offer all Palestinians in East Jerusalem citizenship and our Palestinian prisoners get a free college level education even if they've killed Israelis in terror attacks. We medevac people from the Gaza strip if they require hospitalization, even when Hamas has tried to boobytrap the people getting medevaced. Even the leader of Hamas trusts Israeli hospitals to treat his daughter. Again, please read a little bit about the situation before presuming that you know what's going on. Palestinians in the KSA or most of the Arab world would love to be in the situation that Palestinians in the West Bank/Israel are in.
That doesn't justify stealing solar panels from a small town in the name of arbitrary permits.
So what do you think happens in the US, the UK, or any other country when you build something without acquiring those "arbitrary permits"?
israel needs to fuck off hardcore
That explains your bias and absolution of Israel's antagonizing and harmful behavior in every thread.
Honestly, I know way more about the situation at hand than most of you do. I've been to Israel, talked with both Israeli and Palestinian leaders, smoked hookah with Palestinians who belong to Fatah and talked to them about their problems with the Israeli government, got drunk with Israeli soldiers. I'm actually finishing up a course at the International Institute for Counterterrorism right now. Israel isn't perfect but a lot of this stuff is really misunderstood by a lot of Westerners, the situation isn't as black and white as it seems. Palestinians provoke a lot of this stuff and it escapes the news but as soon as Israel responds proportionally, it gets all over the news. The fact is that the West loves a good underdog and is willing to forgive almost anything an underdog will do as long as it's with the goal of "stopping oppression". There's so many Palestinian terror attacks where they murder women and children but if I was to post each one in its own thread here, I would be banned for spamming but a minor bureaucratic issue is now worthy of its own thread? I have a lot of criticism of Israel but they handle this conflict way better than the US or most other Western countries would. Consider the fact that the US invasion of Afganistan + Iraq had a civilian/combatant death ratio of 7:1. 7 civilians died for each enemy killed. When Israel invaded Gaza, one of the densely populated places in the world, their civilian combatant death ratio was 1:1 or 3:2. depends on who you believe. Still pretty damn good.
So what do you think happens in the US, the UK, or any other country when you build something without acquiring those "arbitrary permits"?
You often get away with it until someone complains? You are making a terrible argument. The solar panels were in the west bank, not in Israel. It is up to the Palestinians to decide if it was lawful or not.

For all intents and purposes, it's up for Israel according to an agreement signed by both Israel and Palestine.
Palestinians provoke a lot of this stuff and it escapes the news but as soon as Israel responds proportionally, it gets all over the news.
Solar panels a small town needed and had donated are "provoking" it? Victim blaming shouldn't be so transparent. Israel strongarm and bribing their authority doesn't mean it's right to use it to cripple these areas.
Solar panels a small town needed and had donated are "provoking" it? Victim blaming shouldn't be so transparent. The actions of the Israeli government are indeed more news worthy than events that are, as you say, very frequent and the actions of individuals.
First file the permit, when it's refused then they can complain. They needed it but they should have filed the paperwork. Oftentimes, these are not the actions of individuals but planned out terror attacks by Hamas/PLO/ISIS.
First file the permit, when it's refused then they can complain. They needed it but they should have filed the paperwork.
Clearly the best course of action is to destroy $300,000 in internationally donated hardware because the town didn't pay for the arbitrary permit to place solar panels in a field.

Don't gamble on Israelis not noticing a huge solar farm in your backyard.
Believe me, if Israel wanted to kill all of the Palestinians, we would already done it.
this is honestly a scary post tbh
You often get away with it until someone complains? You are making a terrible argument. The solar panels were in the west bank, not in Israel. Go build something without a permit, call the government and say "I built this without a permit, but nobody is complaining about it, so it's cool." and see what happens.
this is honestly a scary post tbh
I'm pretty sure there's a Charles Manson quote that's something like that.
Clearly the best course of action is to destroy $300,000 in internationally donated hardware because the town didn't pay for the arbitrary permit to place solar panels in a field.
It's not arbitrary. I'm kinda confused on why they would destroy the solar panels, seems wasteful but the Dutch government will probably sue the Israeli government in court for the cost of the panels.
Ok then. I know the emails are getting to them but they ain't responding. *This* close to installing the posts anyways and seeing what happens.
this is honestly a scary post tbh
It's fact. Israel could have killed a significant amount of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip if we simply carpet bombed it. It's not scary because it won't happen, no one outside of a few crazies that arent in the government wants to do that. They aren't that stupid.
But then they have blood on their hands and nobody will support them. They aren't that stupid.
For a less extreme example, Israel could stop calling the buildings that they are bombing. Currently Israel warns the people occupying a targeted building to get out and find cover. They could also stop using roof knocking techniques to scare civilians out of targeted buildings.
