(CNN) -- He was a clerk at a shoe company, though he hadn't worked for some time. She was a retired artisan. Together, they had no more than 500 euros a month, from her pension, to live off of.
On Friday, they were dead.
In Italy, a country in a deep economic malaise and political disarray, there's no shortage of people struggling nowadays. Even then, the suicides of Romeo Dionisi, 62, and Anna Maria Sopranzi, 68, struck a nerve -- triggering an outpouring of disbelief and sorrow not only in their seaside eastern Italian community, but around the nation.
"The tragedy of Civitanova Marche leaves (me) shocked and speechless," said Pier Luigi Bersani, leader of the center-left Democratic Party that narrowly won the most votes in February's election. "We all have to convince ourselves that, out of the spotlight, there is a real and dramatic social emergency."[/quote]

I was almost inclined to think that they probably don't give a shit considering this pair was left in it on their own, and then I realized that their families might just not be any better off :[
If I was ever in such a financial trouble that sucide is a option, I rather rob a bank or other illegal means since there isn't anything else to lose anymore.

you literally could do anything you want if your life had no more value, you could so some horrendous crimes with no motive except for that your life was shit if you were stuck in that situation, but mostly you would just want to get it over with quickly
i feel sorry for these guys
these suicide cases are becoming quite frequent in Italy.
Italy? Everywhere. I just got a letter saying I owe the US Government $11,000, saying I need to repay disability benefits that total to a meager $8k a year due to them fucking up with my case. Eventually you just run out of conventional options when you don't have it in your heart to go out and hurt people to get more money even if it's your only choice.
Of course though, that's after they took away my healthcare while I was on depression meds and just about to start treatment for shit that's killing my liver and body overall, but eh, politics, right?
Romeo and Juliet all over again, it's slightly funny that it happened in Italy aswell and the guys name was Romeo. Sad for them.
