Many cultures around the world eventually developed the use of commodity money. The shekel was originally a unit of weight, and referred to a specific weight of barley, which was used as currency.. The first usage of the term came from Mesopotamia circa 3000 BC. Societies in the Americas, Asia, Africa and Australia used shell money – often, the shells of the money cowry (Cypraea moneta L. or C. annulus L.). According to Herodotus, the Lydians were the first people to introduce the use of gold and silver coins. It is thought by modern scholars that these first stamped coins were minted around 650–600 BC. I was just thinking how weird it is that I can walk into a store with a slip of paper and exchange it for something useful like food. The invention of currency was a pretty amazing thing, and I find it very interesting how much value we place in paper that cost pennies to produce. The concept of credit cards is also pretty weird, because I can buy something without giving anything in exchange and my credit card company pays it for me. Later, they collect all the money they've covered for me with interest. The fact that we have law enforcement is the only thing that keeps me from not paying the bill.

Euro is the win itself.[/QUOTE] How the hell was this video [I]NOT[/I] in the OP? in terms of money, i remember a few weeks ago some asian guy went to the Targer cash register i was working on and make a $22,000 AUD payment in hundreds to his Coles group credit card. i was holding more money than what i would have ever earned at target ever ... i'm also very convinced he was probably money laundering.

The Australian and New Zealand dollars by far have the best and coolest notes.

I like the US dollar or the Euro, everything else looks like monopoly money...
