You are a curious traveller, you want to see what the country has to offer but they just aren’t helping you. Well, in Saudi Arabia they do just that. There are very few places that welcome you less. It is a strict Muslim country and it’s their country so they can do what they want but surely if you have got permission to be there then you should be able to see what you want within reason?

So I knew I wouldn’t make it into the mosque but had hopes of seeing it from the outside. I had also heard less founded rumours of non-Muslims not being allowed in Mecca as the city is holy in Islam but as nobody had bothered leaving Jeddah, nobody could verify this. Even many of my Muslim friends who had been there didn’t know because they didn’t pay any attention. So off on my merry journey I went wondering how would anybody verify that you were Muslim or not. Now being white would be a sign but there are plenty of white Muslims in the world so if I tried to keep a low profile and with my darkening tan maybe I could pass for a Moroccan or something! Surely they couldn’t check everybody as that would be a major operation, they must just have security or something close to the mosque so you can’t get close. Yeah, that must be it. Oh no, that wasn’t it. They do check everybody. How do they do it? By putting huge checkpoints across the motorways exactly like tolls. And they also put a huge sign over the road to say if you are non-Muslim then get off. It seems crazy but in Saudi anything is possible. You feel very unloved and rejected.
Where's the outrage about this then? I didn't know this but it doesn't surprise me one bit.
I thought this was common knowledge. Saudi Arabia is an Islamic theocracy. Going against Islam is punishable by death. You have no religious freedom in Saudi Arabia. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freedom_of_religion_in_Saudi_Arabia
None of the Islamic holy sites allow non-Muslims http://wikitravel.org/en/Mecca http://wikitravel.org/en/Hajj http://wikitravel.org/en/Medina There are more but these are three examples.
How do you prove that you're a Muslim?
I learned this in 5th grade in lessons about the world religions as well as in several books, yes.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LYNyJnOZdqg Never linked before so sue me if it doesn't work
How do you prove that you're a Muslim?
You don't, several people have been "sneaking" in in the past. Ludovico de Varthema kinda set the trend in the 15th century
So the news is that Saudi Arabia is still shitty?
How do you prove that you're a Muslim?
Documentation, most likely. And if it doesn't require documentation, well, it's not exactly a smart idea to lie about your religion when they'll find out eventually and charge you with a crime.
How do you prove that you're a Muslim?
They force you to drink alcohol, and if you get drunk you're not a Muslim because if you are, Allah should drink it for you and therefore you don't get drunk.
How do you prove that you're a Muslim?
There are toll booths, supposedly. Guess you have to do muslim-related stuff? Recite prayers and what have you.
How do you prove that you're a Muslim?
Obviously you just show your Muslim license
Where's the outrage about this then? It is home to a number of shocking abuses in human rights. You're a little late to the party if your goal here is to manufacture some outrage.

I'd hardly call that a horrifying example of what not to do when it works.

Learned this when a fake image went around some months ago in LMAO Pics of someone supposedly in Mecca showing a Bible or whatever it was on an iPad.

waiting for rumbler's next illogical step of "that's why we should be able to ban them from our country"
Wait. Why was this thread moved from GD to SH, it's not even news and it's old as fuck knowledge lol.
Saudi Arabia still practices crucifixion, and for offenses as little as asking for rights. This, sadly, shouldn't surprise anyone, it's quite a bleak, repressive place in that regard.
Bet they check whether you're circumcised or not :v:
Hahaha! Eat a dick, Riyadh! Mecca here I come
I really don't have a problem with not allowing non-Muslims in Muslim holy sites. It would become a tourist trap if anyone were allowed to go.
This is not news, and I think Rumbler, while I personally do dislike ad hominem as I stated in a post an hour or two back, is on an interesting streak. I know I used to post a lot of threads too, but Rumbler's threads have something in common, like as if he was pushing an agenda of some sorts. I don't want to jump to conclusions, but I find it rather intriguing, especially with this article.
its pretty obvious he's an account that's been inactive for years and then suddenly comes back on and starts constantly posting nothing but anti-refugee/muslim stuff, almost immediately being banned for posting fake news and since then mostly posting on the video section because then he cant be banned for posting "news" lol i wouldn't be surprised if he gets banned for spamming news of a single subject like you did lol

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freedom_of_religion_in_Saudi_Arabia
Technically it's a kingdom and thus cannot be a theocracy. However, not being a theocracy does not automatically guarantee more religious freedom. If a kingdom wants the same laws that a theocracy would be expected to have and there's no constitution to impede the king's ability to do so (exactly the case in Saudi Arabia), then there's nothing stopping them from getting what they want.

Dude's made 17 threads in the last month, and all but one of them is an article about Muslims or refugees. Dude's just fear mongering, like so many others these days. But, there's nothing against the rules about posting news articles as long as the articles themselves meet our requirements of being from reputable sources. This thread isn't news at all, though, so I'm not sure why Craptasket moved it here. [editline]/[/editline] Ah, just a mistake on his part. Closing the thread.
