as you've all heard or not a few swarms of earthquakes have been happening recently in Yellowstone reckon Armageddon is here were all doomed?
Your avatar will save us all.
well im sort of worried shitless
It's going to the moon
Well, if you're in Australia, all you have to worry about is the complete collapse of the world's economy. At least I'll die of internal bleeding from the volcanic ash.
here you go, my fuhrer take this. its the last cyanide capsule on the planet.
so it wont go off im guessing :saddowns:
You do realize Yellowstone has swarms all the time?
Lots of people say things are going to blow up and kill us all alot. Just to make a fuss and bring attention to them. Most of the stuff they say is exaggerated and like the hundreds of years we have been civilised, we have and will be fine.
Just to prove my point, every large spike in these charts is a swarm. http://volcanoes.usgs.gov/yvo/publications/2004/faq_yearlyeq.php
here you go, my fuhrer take this. its the last cyanide capsule on the planet.
Actually that's a movie prop.
Actually that's a movie prop.
:ssh: That's the surprise.
I hope it does and only america dies :haw:
If it happens, I just hope the winds are blowing towards the Pacific ocean and not the Atlantic. Hopefully it won't happen in the next 100 years.
If it happens, I just hope the winds are blowing towards the Pacific ocean and not the Atlantic. Hopefully it won't happen in the next 100 years.
Thanks a lot. That's so nice of you.
the Yellowstone magma chamber is moving, if it takes too long it will move to a place where the crust is too thick.
Even if it does go off, I doubt it will be as bad as they made out in Supervolcano.
:ssh: That's the surprise.
LOL. Also Yellowstone will go off, it's just a matter of time. It's so wierd that people are accepting or ignoring their impending doom.
Can someone feed me some background info about this?
Good thing I don't live near yellowstone... Good luck guys! Make sure to remember that the hot sexy orange goo is not your friend...RUN AWAY!
Good thing I don't live near yellowstone... Good luck guys! Make sure to remember that the hot sexy orange goo is not your friend...RUN AWAY!
Too bad no matter where you live, if it blew you would be effected.
Fuck.
If it goes off in 2012, I will then say that the idiots who thought 2012 would happen are correct.
Shit OP, you could have given some information. I'll do it. Yellowstone Park is the caldera of a supervolcano. When a normal volcano erupts, it gives off approximately 1km³ of material. Yellowstone would give off 1000km³ of material. Very little is known about supervolcanic eruptions, because the last one happened tens of thousands of years ago, but it is known that they are destructive on an unprecedented scale. At the very least, an eruption at Yellowstone would destroy the vast majority of the United States. It would likely do much more, with ash not only reaching far into Canada and down to South America, but across the Atlantic and into Europe, and across the Pacific into Asia. It would take three to five days for the ash to reach Europe. [editline]04:00PM[/editline] The last eruption was at Lake Toba in New Zealand 26,500 years ago and it gave off 1,170 km³ of volcanic material. Wikipedia tell us it "plunged the Earth into a volcanic winter, eradicating an estimated 60% of the human population, and was responsible for the formation of sulfuric acid in the atmosphere."

Well, if and when she does blow 'er top, we'd best wrap up warm. Bunkers would be a good idea, too.
Oh, they're always going on about it. Since there's literally nothing we can do to prevent or prepare for what would ultimately mean the end of civilisation, why bother worrying about it? Just pretend it's not going to happen.
if yellowstone blows, sky will go dark worldwide.
