Gary Gunstone stalked the woman through the streets of Bideford, North Devon, just after midnight as she walked to her parents home after visiting her boyfriend. The 15-stone brute dragged her to the ground and raped her in full view of passing drivers. He later bragged to police that she had agreed to sex there and then. Gunstone was jailed at Exeter crown court on Tuesday for a minimum of four years and three months as a judge said the parole board would decide if and when he can be released. Judge Jeremy Griggs said: 'She was a 30-year-old virgin who had a regular boyfriend for eight years and wished to remain with that status until her wedding night.' The judge said Gunstone had raped the woman just two weeks after his jail licence had expired for a previous sex attack which had 'spine chilling' similarities to this attack. Judge Griggs said of the latest sex attack: 'She was a complete stranger to you.' He said Gunstone had told her he was armed with a knife which he was prepared to use and the victim feared that she might be killed. Gunstone, from Bideford, had denied rape but was convicted by a jury. The jury was told he had a previous conviction for a sexual assault on woman 18 months earlier under similar circumstances. Mr Simon Laws, prosecuting, said the victim of the rape was in a long-term relationship with her boyfriend but wanted to keep her virginity until she wed. She was attacked by Gunstone after he followed her through the streets. She let him pass but he then lay in wait for her, told her he had a knife and would harm her unless she did what he demanded. Mr Laws said: 'She fought back, hitting and kicking him but he was impervious. He is a very imposing presence, physically very strong and heavy and he used his strength and weight to keep her on the ground. 'She was terrified throughout and only at the end was able to ask him, "Can I go now?" 'One bizarre feature of this case is that a couple of times cars went by as he was raping her on the side of the road. 'He was prepared to rape her right on the pavement without any apparent concern for being detected. 'He made no attempt to hide what he was doing. It was just something he wanted to do there and then and he did it. 'It is every woman's nightmare to be attacked in a public place by a complete stranger but you always think of it happening in some remote area, not on a pavement with cars going by. It is very unusual. 'Unfortunately none of the cars that passed has stopped and so he was able to go as far as he wanted to go.' Mr Laws said Gunstone was jailed for 12 months in August 2009 at Exeter Crown Court for a sexual assault on a woman in very similar circumstances. In that case he dragged her to the ground in Barnstaple, North Devon , and attacked her even though she was with her sister who tried to fight him off. He said the similarities were that Gunstone had been drinking in each case, both attacks were in the early hours, and both ignored the danger of being seen. He said after the most recent attack, Gunstone told police he saw the woman, who was a stranger, and asked her if she wanted to have sex - and she agreed to it there and then on the pavement. Gunstone, who has a girlfriend, still maintains he did not rape the victim. He bragged to police that he had 'asked her for sex' and she had consented. His lawyer Richard Crabb said he had 'entrenched and unshakeable views' about what happened - but the judge said the parole board will take this into account and Gunstone may remain in jail for many years. While he almost certainly is in the wrong the article is biased as hell and mentioning the fact she was a virgin is wrong seeing as it wasn't any part a motive in his attack.
That is one wierd shaped head.
Looks like a caveman
Fuck people.
Mr Potato Head.
what the fuck
What an interesting face. He looks like a fatter and whiter version of The Rock. I'm not even sure he does that face on purpose.
While he almost certainly is in the wrong the article is biased as hell and mentioning the fact she was a virgin is wrong seeing as it wasn't any part a motive in his attack.
What the fuck are you on? Why would it matter if the article is bias anyway? He's a fucking rapist!
I feel really sorry for that couple.
What's wrong with your faaace?
He seems like a pleasant guy.
While he almost certainly is in the wrong the article is biased as hell and mentioning the fact she was a virgin is wrong seeing as it wasn't any part a motive in his attack.
Yeah, the tone of the article suggests that if you are gonna rape people you should rape the ones that aren't virgins because then it is ok and won't offend them as much.
wow, what a cunt.
Well that's... rude, to say the least. If you're gonna rape somebody, at least have the decency to drag the poor victim to some alley... Criminals have no respect for people these days :/
He seems like a pleasant guy.
Yeah he definitely looks like a really nice guy... who'd knew :v:
That's her life pretty much down the drain. Nice one :/
While he almost certainly is in the wrong the article is biased as hell and mentioning the fact she was a virgin is wrong seeing as it wasn't any part a motive in his attack.
That's journalism for ya. Write the article in a way to force a strong emotional response. Even from the title
He reminds me of one of those goofy characters you could make in Oblivion.
Guns. The great equalizer.
lol at 30 year old virgin woman carrying a gun not gonna happen
-snip-
The most disgusting part about this is that nobody stopped to help.
The most disgusting part about this is that nobody stopped to help.
I fucking hate when news reports like this happen. People not helping others in distress is fucking sad.
Put him in jail, he'll be out after about 4 years, rape someone else, goes back to prision for another 4 years. Rinse and repeat.
Article is biased, there are no 30 year old virgins :v: Outside facepunch that is...
Boyfriend for eight years without sex, what the hell
The most disgusting part about this is that nobody stopped to help.
Yeah, it reminds me of that one news story where a woman was stabbed to death right in the middle of a crowded mall and lay bleeding to death on the floor while people just stepped over and around her. People are fucking disgusting sometimes...
i think this guy was in hey arnold!
The most disgusting part about this is that nobody stopped to help.
It's the daily mail, they probably meant "In the most isolated place ever". I'll wait until I see the BBC report it. Either way, poor, poor woman..
