Schools do mock elections to see how poorly educated the youth is, and propaganda. It would be one thing if it was just high schools, but they used elementary schools this time.

They do it because kids at a young age are more likely to vote based on their parent's views and it's a simple way of doing a widespread survey.
They use elementary schools every election cycle.
