A dead fish is seen on the Mississippi beach on May 2, 2010. While the death has not been linked to the vast oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, concerns over wildlife continue.
The National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) has offered to assist the US in efforts to prevent an ecological disaster caused by the spreading oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
Following an explosion on a BP-operated oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico last month, at least 210,000 gallons (5,000 barrels) of crude oil are thought to be spilling into the water every day.
NIDC managing director Heidar Bahmani announced the firm's readiness to use its decades-long expertise to fight the oil slick, the company's public relations office told Press TV.
"Our oil industry experts in the field of drilling can contain the rig leakage in the Gulf of Mexico and prevent an ecological disaster in that part of the world," Bahmani said.
Overlooking the new US drive for slapping more UN sanctions on Iran over its civilian nuclear program, the company said that there is an urgent need for action to protect the nearby coasts from the advancing oil spill.
The governors of Alabama, Louisiana and Florida have reportedly called a state of emergency for fear of the oil slick's environmental and economic damages.
The disaster has also prompted the White House to ban oil drillings in new areas of the US coast until the British company explains the cause of the explosion that killed 11 employees and resulted in the oil spill.
:)
If there's one thing the middle east knows it's oil, I'd say let them have a go, seeing as how BP is handling it so well.
Goddamn Iranians are mocking us, thinking we can't do it.
good to see they're putting the environment before their relationship between the US
good to see they're putting the environment before their relationship between the US
Are you being sarcastic?
Goddamn Iranians are mocking us, thinking we can't do it.
Currently the best idea we have is blocking it with garbage.
Iran should really help you guys out.
I'm sure in the end they'll demand for something back.
Are you being sarcastic?
nope, the fact that they're offering help, despite the sanctions that the us are putting on them. the fact that they're still offering to help the environment is decent.

Photoshop the hole over!
nope, the fact that they're offering help, despite the sanctions that the us are putting on them. the fact that they're still offering to help the environment is decent.
Their whole point is to show how "good" they are, in order to make the US lift these sanctions.
Once they collected it up and made a good job of it
USA will raid that area
nope, the fact that they're offering help, despite the sanctions that the us are putting on them. the fact that they're still offering to help the environment is decent.
You do realise they're making the offer to try and repair the US-Iran relationship don't ya?
Let them do it, the British suck at cleaning their own mess.
Their whole point is to show how "good" they are, in order to make the US lift these sanctions.
And what's wrong with that...
I think they can need now any help they can get.
Let them do it, the British suck at cleaning their own mess.
...what the hell doe's the UK have to do with this?
Their whole point is to show how "good" they are, in order to make the US lift these sanctions.
As if anyone would give a fuck about your sanctions. What do you have to offer? Capitalism? hurr durr
...what the hell doe's the UK have to do with this?
UK owns BP, hence "British Petroleum."
That dead fish picture contributed so much to the debate that I feel like I have nothing left to contribute that hasn't already been said.
The UK don't own it, it's simply a British-registered company.
Uh no?
What's the first result for Google search of 'british petroleum?'
Goddamn Iranians are mocking us, thinking we can't do it.
You can't.
Bring in someone who knows oil.
It's not like the president of Iran will be there personally, they'll just dispatch some cleanup teams.
Swallow your pride for a while and accept the help America.
Also, this reminds me of when Cuba offered to send medical personnel to help after Katrina. Didn't USA turn down that offer?

America needs to prove they're better than the world at everything, including failing.
I didn't expect this from them.
Good to hear.
it doesn't matter what Iran's motives are, the environment comes first, get over your pride and accept the aid, U.S.
nope, the fact that they're offering help, despite the sanctions that the us are putting on them. the fact that they're still offering to help the environment is decent.
Sure, it's for the "environment" and not the hidden political agenda.
But regardless of what it may seem the politics can wait till AFTER the mess, right?
