Thought this was an interesting watch.
Teen Titans was so good, I used to watch it every time I came home from school. When I heard there was a reboot, I was so excited...
Until I found out that its plot is pure fucking nonsense
Really a shame that these kinds of action cartoons don't seem to last any more.
I've been hearing about this whole Teen Titans Go! hate and decided to watch one by myself on Cartoon Network.
Ended up in an episode where Beast Boy, Robin and Cyborg became gentlemans [sp]and got themselves captured very easily as they've told Starfire and Raven not to go with em because they are a "gentleman", thrown into a jail and spent the rest of the episode summoning their future/prehistoric/reincarnated/dead selves to escape, just to get captured once more as their other selves kept getting the villain's attention. Meanwhile Raven and Starfire gathered some other heroines/villains to help em (Why the hell is Terra evil now?) only to end with
"You know what, fuck em. They will annoy us even more if we free em. Let's go hit a cocktail!"[/sp]
Fuckin, amazing.

After what happened to young justice, I gave up hope for these types of cartoons.
I'd really like to see what statistics these big suits are using when they decide to fuck with old IPs. Maybe action shows aren't doing so hot because there are practically no dedicated action shows for kids at the moment? That seems like an opportunity if you ask me.

They look at what kind of shows are really popular, decide to make another show like that, then remember that re-using well known IPs is far more likely to get attention than creating a new one and look for whatever they can slap on their project.
I mean we went from "Oh no, Deathstroke (Slade) is plotting to destroy the city, we have to stop him!"
to "Oh no, we have to eat vegetables......"
It's like they forgot that kids aren't that humongously retarded. Or maybe they are, they just weren't back in the 90s/early 2000s?
I never understood the fear of vegetables thing as a kid, I loved brocoli and carrots when I was a wee lad.

There are sayings that OG Teen Titan was more popular among older audiences.
So the chances that 90s/2k kids being humongously retarded is still a possibility. :hurr:
teen titan go memes is lit :ok: :ok: :ok: k ya'll just haters
ecksdi..........

I'd argue it's not that kids are different in any way, but moreso cartoons now have to keep up with the relatively recent memetastic, adhd riddled, random information explosion that is the internet to hold children's attention. For example, the turn spongebob has taken over the past few years is exceedingly nonsensical, over the top, and hyperactive humor, much like teen titans go. If you throw on cartoon network or nickelodeon today, it's easy to see how fast paced and in-your-face most shows have become, and that's the landscape the internet has helped to create. I think the phenomenon is especially prevalent in the United States, and I can't speak for other countries.

this isn't at all a new thing though, fast paced cartoons with nonsensical and over the top humor have been around way before TTG

because movies are action central right now
look at all the movies that top the box office in 2014, 2015, 2016

seeing action at the movies then seeing action on tv would cannibalize themselves.
this is why shows with a comedy/slice of life priority are the most popular shows to make.
if you want the original TT back you need to change the movie industry or bring balance to both movie boxoffice and tv ratings.
oh my god so this is why the Sonic movie has to be live action?!?!
because cartoons don't sell if they got no j0kes?
If you're gonna bring up statistics, teen titans GO is wildly successful on cartoon network. It wasn't even made by cartoon network either IIRC.
It's a popular superhero property though, so I really wouldn't worry too much about getting a good spiritual successor to Teen Titans. Those things never really die and if the climate changes enough someone in charge will likely get it done, especially in like 5-10 years or so, since that'd be a great time to capitalize on nostalgia.
