Paula Deen lost another part of her empire on Monday: Smithfield Foods said it was dropping her as a spokeswoman.
The announcement came days after the Food Network said it would not renew the celebrity cook's contract in the wake of revelations that she used racial slurs in the past.
You can be raised in the south and that's fine, but to constantly be racist to the crew on a daily basis, be a fucking adult about it.

What a stupid excuse. She's a racist old lady, not a 5 year old girl.

You're aware that this story broke when she admitted in a deposition that she used the word when telling her husband about a black man that was robbing the bank she worked at with a gun to her head. That ONE time is when she said she used it in describing the man to her husband. In the south. In the 60s. Do you expect her to say "the kind african-american gentleman?" This whole controversy about her is completely stupid and overblown.

Not to mention that it happened awhile ago and they still fired her for it.

She's 66. She's had plenty of time to learn better.
“Well what I would really like is a bunch of little n***ers to wear long-sleeve white shirts, black shorts and black bow ties. You know, in the Shirley Temple days, they used to tap dance around. Now, that would be a true Southern wedding wouldn't it? But we can't do that because the media would be on me about that...”
or just "the guy"
honestly why do people feel the need to point out the race of whoever they're describing only if they arent white

Not in Sub-Saharan Africa it isn't

She jumped to "nigger" so quickly that I honestly think it's part of her regular vocabulary.
Eh, whatever. I'm not gonna judge her for what she said. I'm pretty sure there's an equal amount of racial slurs going around black and white families. Hell I call my best friend a "nigger" and he calls me a "honky" I love him like my brother so it's whatever, just gotta stop wasting time focusing on the hate and more on that fact that we are all the same.

Did you even read your own source? Immediately after that quote comes "the lawsuit quotes Deen as allegedly saying." It even gives her side of the story RIGHT after that. And the explanation is from the same deposition- even where she says "I would say there were slaves" is directly in response to a question her lawyer asked which was "Would you say they [black men and women in pre-Civil War photographs of southern weddings, etc] were slaves?" And she says yes, I'd imagine they were slaves.
That quote you have as being said by her is literally just a line someone fed a lawyer with no evidence she ever even thought that, let alone said it.

Wait, because I live in the South, that means I'm racist?
Please. I have lived in Texas all my life and never once have I been racist to anyone or even implied someone was inferior because of race. This isn't cultural, geographical, or lack of education. It's purely bad parenting and/or a shitty mindset.
