With his boisterous, sometimes brash and classically Jersey political style, Gov. Chris Christie on Tuesday finally announced his bid for the presidency, declaring he is "ready to fight for the people" of America.
A relaxed Christie — with his wife, Mary Pat, and four children standing next to him — spoke freely and blamed both parties for gridlock in Washington, and said straight talk and "strong leadership and decisiveness" would relieve weary voters.
"I am now ready to fight for the people of the United States of America," Christie told a crowd of about 1,000 in the old gymnasium of his alma mater, Livingston High School, during an unscripted speech unlike any other kickoff this year.
The 52-year-old governor and former federal prosecutor, who three years ago was a burgeoning GOP star, enters the most crowded field in recent history and with far less shine, having since endured scandal, a sputtering economy and sagging polls.

Who does he blame for the gridlock on that bridge though?
How many fucking candidates does the GOP have now

Better get the clown car ready.
It's the same thing every time. Get a bunch of lunatics to act like candidates then drop out and leave the last lunatic looking like Jesus Christ parting the see of stupid.
sorry there's just too much Chris in his name

Except in this case, whoever gets the nomination will still be bat-shit crazy.
too many crooks
Chris Christie wasn't born on earth he was born on Hal Hutta, his father is Jabba the Hutt I DEMAND TO SEE HIS BIRTH CERTIFICATE!

[sp]AKA: This song + still images of him are all that any smear-campaign against him would need to be successful[/sp]
My father, as a NJ resident, is very pleased with this.
He would like the rest of the nation to experience the horror Christie has brought upon NJ.
Pretty sure nearly everybody views this guy as a corrupt asshole.
Or am I wrong?

It's got to be over 20 now. They need a big van to fit the entire GOP primary, while the dems primary is a Prius with Sanders and Clinton inside
Hey guys, I'm running for president too, wish me luck!

A corrupt asshole who says it like it is, according to the republicans.
God help us all.
Outside of Bernie and some obscure libertarian politicians, we have been sentenced to a hell for the 2016 election. I'm really hoping that Bernie Sanders teams up with someone like Heidi Heitkamp from North Dakota, as they'd make an amazing combination.
And tens of people were surprised.

you're completely wrong.
ardent left wing people and Facepunchers, perhaps - but among the current Republican candidates Christie actually has the largest amount of support from moderates in the public, especially due to his cooperation with President Obama during hurricane Sandy. He's viewed as someone who will reach across the aisle, which makes him particularly attractive for 2016. His connections to Jersey also make him a big name in the liberal northeast, meaning he has exposure and traction in the north where other Republicans have none.
Christie is potentially the biggest threat to a liberal white house in 2016.
If this means Christie will leave NJ, I'm all for it. This asshole screwed over so many government workers and their pensions, luckily my parents were grandfathered in so they weren't effected.

Same deal for my father. Fuck Christie.

"I won't raise taxes, I'll just steal the money from the employees"
Chris Christie sort of reminds me of The Beast from Transmetropolitan now that I think of it.
His approval ratings tanked in last year or so. Christie was a superpower during Hurricane Sandy, but he's lost all that momentum from the Bridge scandal and just coming off the bullying asshole. At least it'll be interesting to see if he get people back on his side, tho.
I remember listening to one of the radio stations here on the shore that he wants to cut benefits or some shit to compensate for the pensions.
Once Walker and Kasich announce, this will actually be the largest number of candidates for a party nomination, larger than 1976 and 1988 which also had a shit ton of people.

A socialist and the most centrist-ass Democrat not named Joe Manchin working together? Yeah, I'm sure that would go great.

For me it's a matter of not putting our eggs into the basket from one region. Having a candidate from the east coast, and midwest would be beneficial as it would ensure that all regions would have a voice.
Another thing is that Bernie Sanders and Heidi Heitkamp have both voiced their support for the Bank of North Dakota in the past, as well as pushing similar state banks into other states, which regardless of how you feel towards it, is ultimately good for local economies as it ensures that responsibility exists within the banking system.
I live in NJ and a week or two ago my dad was going on a business trip. He got on the plane and greeted the CFO of the company as he passed his seat. After sitting down he realized the CFO was sitting across the aisle from the Big Man himself, Chris Christie. He was complaining about how the flight was delayed or something

Also my local newspaper had his campaign announcement on the front page along with about four articles that were blatantly bashing him and all the terrible shit he's done. Republicans might like him, but absolutely no one in New Jersey does anymore.
The guy didn't even win New Jersey in the primaries last time. How the hell does he think he'll win this time??
Chris Christie announces his candidacy for both President and Heart Disease
I want to see an election between Chris Christie and Hillary Clinton for the sole purpose of watching the muckraking. It wouldn't be a popularity vote, it would be a vote of who is less dirty.
