• Rockstar bans FiveM modders
Rockstar has banned the accounts of the Grand Theft Auto V modders responsible for popular multiplayer project FiveM, according to Eurogamer. FiveM allows GTAV users to play on custom multiplayer servers apart from Rockstar’s GTA Online service, and it has been used to import maps from previous GTA titles into the GTA V engine, as you can see in the video after the cut. FiveM’s creators say that their service doesn’t interact with GTA Online at all, which should have prevented the banhammer since Rockstar has previously stated that all mods which steer clear of GTA Online are OK. FiveM does connect to Rockstar’s Social Club service, but ironically this was done to prevent piracy and ensure that the mod’s users had purchased GTAV rather than simply pirating it.
Source: http://massivelyop.com/2015/08/10/rockstar-bans-gtas-fivem-modders/ For those that don't know, FiveM is what MTA and SAMP were to San Andreas. Lua gamemode support, custom terrains/textures, tons of cool stuff. If this is true, fuck Rockstar and I hope FiveM removes the Social Club login requirement (which was there as a favor to Rockstar promoting legitimate purchases of their game) Updated source with accurate info http://www.pcgamer.com/gtav-modders-reportedly-banned-for-creating-their-own-online-realm/
Not surprising tbh.
And now they might as well let it go outside of Social Club so even pirates can benefit of it. Way to go.
Not surprising tbh.
Not surprising but fucking embarrassing. If they really didn't want people to create an alternative to GTA:O, they should have built the online component up to the standards that MTA and SA:MP set almost a decade ago.
And now they might as well let it go outside of Social Club so even pirates can benefit of it. Way to go.
Honestly I hope they do. Fuck rockstar for being retarded for no reason.
And now they might as well let it go outside of Social Club so even pirates can benefit of it. Way to go.
I hope they abandon Social Club requirements so I won't get banned from Social Club, pirates being able to play is just a bonus. [editline]11th August 2015[/editline]
Honestly I hope they do. Fuck rockstar for being retarded for no reason.
But you see, it's cutting into their profits of the Rockstar Money that you can buy that no one bought in the first place.

NTAuthority doesn't deserve this, for fucks sakes he was the first one to get actual model replacements going. Fuck Cockstar, hopefully he gets around to removing SC login requirements.
This is a big middle finger towards their own customers. I shouldn't have given them my money.
I hope the next game doesn't have an online component so the community can do what they've always done, make it themselves. I want 200 players on a server. I want Day-Z, Battle Royale and LSLife role playing game modes in my GTAV. I want remakes of the original San Andreas, that users can use in multiplayer. To have GTA:Online be what was delivered seems like such a massive waste of potential, it's insane. FiveM could be the new platform for gamemodes that we commonly see in the ARMA engine, it'd run better, play better and wouldn't flood the multiplayer community of a military simulation that is practically dead due to a lack of interest in the actual game.
one of the people banned didnt even activate their game and got banned
I hope the next game doesn't have an online component
Oh, it will. It's the only reason why people still play it on consoles.
It is pretty surprising, they've banned the modders just out of spite, they're not doing anything wrong.
Apart from breaking the EULA / agreements that you agree to when you install the game..
Apart from breaking the EULA / agreements that you agree to when you install the game..
how? modding isn't breaking anything.
I didn't even know about FiveM before reading this story, Thanks cockstar now I'm going to play that instead
how? modding isn't breaking anything.

You agree not to.. reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, display, perform, prepare derivative works based on, or otherwise modify the Software, in whole or in part;
Sounds pretty clear to me. I mean I disagree with what Rockstar are doing here, but they are not 100% in the wrong.
What a really fucking dick move

rockstar are so salty because they can't deliver a proper multiplayer, that they have to do this :v:
Sounds pretty clear to me. I mean I disagree with what Rockstar are doing here, but they are not 100% in the wrong.
Most of the people that got banned didn't write a single line of code for FiveM, let alone do any reverse engineering.
After GTA 5 I will never buy another Rockstar game. GTA 5 as a game was great but Rockstar has done nothing but show their true colors the whole time and it's not pretty. Fuck Rockstar.
I bought the game for GTAO, terrible terrible mistake. Cheaters (Infinite health, bullet force, instant kill without needing to be host, really?), no matchmaking and 99.9% of DM games being impossibly laggy (Literally being matched with Australian/Chinese people a lot, taking no damage or just going 'dead' but still killing everyone), join heist > 5 minute loading screen > someone leaves > 5 minute loading screen > join another > 5 mins loading > lose one round and someone leaves > 5 mins loading...End up spending half the time on loading screens for heists before getting frustrated and quitting. Not to mention the only things that felt worth doing in multiplayer (Group heist achievements for $$$$) were next to impossible for weeks and I wouldn't be surprised if they still were because of the amount of gamebreaking bugs that would end up in resetting the achievement progress. FiveM is the only way I will be playing GTAO again, if they manage to get it out, but in the time it will probably take I most likely will have lost interest anyway.
GTAO sucks ass anyway. Only thing that's really even attracting about it is fucking around with friends, and oh, that costs ingame money that you have to grind for in heists which are terribly unfunny. Or then you could buy the ridiciloiusly expensive ingame money with your real money.
Shit like attacking single player modders and not fixing competitive gamemode hackers is what deterred me away from buying GTAV. Oh and here's an idea: Make the online game fun then people will play it? Instead of locking them into a grind so they feel like they're forced to play it to have fun?
Not surprising tbh.
It's pretty surprising they banned them for making a singleplayer mod when they stated they were allowed. It's pretty fucking hypocritical to do so, and if I knew they would pull this kind of shit on us I would have never bought the game. Can they legally do it? yes, is it ethical and should we support it? NO.
Requested a refund on Steam, I'll let you guys know what they say. Since Rockstar has now violated customer trust it's a refundable issue but it's anyone's guess whether Valve will honor that or not.
rockstar are so salty because they can't deliver a proper multiplayer, that they have to do this :v:
GTA V/O is so popular one cannot really argue? Or, well.. But, if we jump to a game like Max Payne 3, I believe that game actually suffered from having like 50% of the development time&costs put into the multi-player portion of the game. And it also suffered from what is the new, shittier Rockstar* today apparently. Reason why original Max Paynes lacked multiplayer wasn't because they wanted to make a "true good single-player game" either, but because they simply lacked the resources to do both, and it was a long time ago. So the logical course of action was to make a story-driven SP experience. They were just a small&poor Finnish company back then trying to impress the American market. And generally. And it showed, they did (and still do) excellent fucking writing. With Max Payne, you get this mix of "dark" Finnish poetry and literature (since Finnish writers) in an otherwise hard&cold American setting, with the various comics and TV shows on the side with action and nightmare, and actually memorable characters like Mona Sax, Vlad, the Baseball Bat-Boy.. Now, who do you remember from Max Payne 3? Like the side-kick? Was he Roman? Or.. R-something? Rico? Oh right, Raul. (I couldn't even remember.) Like, what did you do Rockstar*? What did you do?

Though I have played 300hrs clocked so that's gonna be an issue.

That sounds horrible. Almost like a waste of resources that could have been put into a better/bigger single-player, and a smaller but at least functioning multiplayer if that's even possible for them.
