Why do people get so fucking worked up over TTT
Rounds only last a few minutes, It's not a huge deal if you die. Especially as an innocent where you are basically just killing time anyways.
Who takes TTT seriously anymore, like I kinda did but then me and like 5 other friends go on servers and just RDM now.

That's stupid. It's fun to dick around in TTT and push people's buttons, but just mindlessly killing people to make them rage is really just boring and doesn't take any skill. It's much more fun to dick around when innocent and mess with other people by verbally talking to them instead of just griefing. I dunno, different walks of life I guess. I hate the general direction that TTT went in after I quit a couple years ago. It used to be a great gamemode.
I never saw the appeal to TTT, playing the Traitor is the only fun in it, everything else is just wasting time until you can play the Traitor again.
i still play TTT, but only on one single server. i make custom maps for it like this one that is wide open and has cars (most TTT maps are indoors and linear).

it's also pretty much regulars-only. so we can fuck around all we want with eachother, just respect the rules we set ourselves. 12 year olds get muted, etc. i guess the only way you can enjoy TTT is if you find a good server with good, active mods and a mature community.

I can still enjoy TTT, it's just that some people take it a bit too seriously yet you constantly have people trying to ruin everyone else's fun. A no-win situation often enough, because the gamemode itself never really changed (aside from what an individual server mods onto it), it's the community that became rather rotten. Just like a lot of Garry's Mod gamemode communities.
I got very sad when I hopped on GMod for the first time in years and the RP/TTT servers outnumbered the sandbox ones.
The problem with TTT is that now it's completely different than what it was before.
TTT used to be about playing mind games, convincing innocents and detectives to kill each other and watching maniacally as the match turns into a massive battlefield where everyone is shooting each other and no-one knows who's a traitor and who's an innocent.
Nowadays it's all about RDM so everyone is too scared to convince innocents to kill each other. It's sad.
TTT servers need to go back to the old habit of shooting first and asking questions later, there has been many times on recent servers where I thought I saw someone with a knife and switched back to a gun, killed him and turned out he was an innocent and I got kicked for RDM.
This isn't how it should be, if everyone is too scared to kill each other then the rounds are going to be boring and the Traitors will win every time.

There's a fine line between RDM and killing -- not just killing with intent/purpose, but killing in general. A player who constantly kills people without rhyme or reason is an RDMer. A player who kills people when they're afraid is a player of the game. I don't know, I feel like if I had the energy I'd host and admin a "true" TTT server in the old fashion sense, but I don't have the know-how to do that so I remain in the dark.

It can still be good if you find a proper server (i.e. vanilla, 16 players at most). There's a direct correlation between stupid mods and bad administration, a server that has one is bound to have the other.
Also, say what you want about wanton RDMing, but there are few things more fun than joining a terrible TTT server and propkilling until you get banned. Guns are for pussies

This sounds interesting, I actually run a TTT server; and I'm going to see if the other admins are ok with a change like this. Any other insights into what you think TTT was / should be like ?

I know this can't really be fixed by server admins and is all about the players but for fuck sake people who play TTT are retarded.
Everyone spends the entire time talking about random shit over global voice chat, and if anyone calls out a KoS nobody fucking cares.
There has not been a single time in the last year that anyone has cared when I yelled a KoS over the voice chat. No one even bothers to ask if I'm still alive, they just continue talking about random crap and ignore the KoS, and then at the end of the round they talk about how bullshit it was that that traitor got them and nobody told them who it was.

I never play TTT before. :(
I've played TTT once on a server where you could control props after you died. I used to build up speed and slam at people, killing them. There was no way to tell who the prop was so I caused lots and lots of anger and fury and whining by doing it. Even the server rules forbidded killing as a prop but it was still possible for some reason. :v:

I can't remember the name of it, but my favorite is the one where it starts with the dude speedhacking and at some point theres like a million people yelling in voice chat and someone is still yelling "SPEED HACKS FOR THE WIN" over all of them.
Man, which servers do you guys play on? They all sound like shit. I just play on the same 2 servers owned by the same guy and half the time they are filled with regulars
