Upcoming films: Post and discuss films not yet released

I felt we needed this as although the big Hollywood Blockbusters tend to get threads there is no love for the smaller films, which can be just as, or more, relevant and important than any blockbuster. This is generally for films that are smaller than blockbusters (not that they wouldn't be allowed or anything- just that they tend to garner enough attention to warrant a thread to themselves), and wouldn't survive a thread on their own. Films that are just a small indie release, or a european art film or whatever. - and discuss with others. I think this should be more than just a "post your" fast threads type thread. Good discussions would be nice.
So yeah, I'll start. In no order, some films I'm really looking forward to (by no means close to all)-

Nymphomaniac (Lars Von Trier)
hugely looking forward to this. Von Trier is excellent.
It stars Von Trier regular Charlotte Gainsbourg as a self confessed nymphomaniac who is found after being beaten in an alley as she describes the events leading up to her situation (as far as I can tell. Not a lot's been revealed, which I like). Also starring Stellen Skarsgard, Shia LeBouf, Willem Dafoe, Christian Slater and Uma Therman.
The film's going to be given two cuts- an R-rated (I assume) 2 hour version, and an NC-17 4 hour version. Hoping to catch the 4 hour version playing in my local arthouse cinema.

All Them Bodies Ain't Saints (David Lowery)
A western starring Rooney Mara, Ben Foster and Casey Affleck. Bob (Casey Affleck) and Rooney Mara(Ruth) are an outlaw couple. Bob is captured and put in prison, and several years later makes an escape to find his wife upon learning they have a child. Not sure of who Ben Foster is but I assume he's a law enforcer.
I think this could be a really interesting new take on a stagnant genre, and I look forward to seeing it.
Also something interesting is that Lowery made his DP listen to songs Lowery picked to illustrate how he wants the film to look. Which is awesome. It must have worked cos it won best cinematography at Sundance.

Twelve Years A Slave (Steve McQueen)
I'm a huge fan of Hunger and Shame, so I'm really looking forward to this. Based on an autobiography written way back in 1853, the film takes place in the 1800's following a black free man who is captured and sold into slavery

All Is Lost (J.C. Chandor)
Starring Robert Redford, this seems like an interesting film. Redford plays an elderly sailor who goes out on a solo voyage and crashes into a shipping container, and he uses his resourcefulness to stay alive and escape.
Robert Redford is the only cast member, and the film has pretty much no dialogue. This could be fantastic and judging by reviews it's gonna be great. Looking forward to this a lot.

The Past (Asghar Farhadi)
This will be great. Written and directed by Asghar Farhadi of A Separation fame, starring Tahar Rahim who starred in A Prophet, and Berenice Bejo from The Artist. It's about a man who abandons his family to return to his homeland and the wife starting a new relationship. I don't know or want to know any more than that until the film is released.

Blue Is The Warmest Colour (Abdellatif Kechiche)
This controversial Palme D'or winner is a 3 hour long lesbian romance/drama between a 15 year old who wants to be a teacher and a blue haired art student and the relationship that forms. I feel like this could be a thrilling character drama which clearly doesn't cut corners or compromise- its running time and 12 minute sex scene sound promising in the honesty of the director. Can't wait.
There's loads more films coming out I can't wait to see but this is just a few. Post more, discuss already posted films, whatever. This should be good for finding smaller films coming out soon.
All Is Lost sounds very interesting, I'll keep an eye on it.
Doesn't Nymphomaniac have full, unsimulated sex?
Yeah. Although they're using body doubles. They're using porn stars for the penetration etc and merging them with the footage of the actors. It was originally going to be real (I know Shia LeBouf made a big deal out of it- understandly so, the guy's trying to break free of Transformers esque films and wants people to know I guess :v:)
An appetizer went up yesterday.

Just a little scene but interesting. It still looks bleak and dreary, and I see von Trier's playing with the camera to mess with the audience as he often does :v: (also- Tarkovsky's Solaris in the very start?)
It's interesting. The film comes out in 8 months, and it's divided into 8 chapters- so they're releasing a little segment of each chapter per month.
Also, von Trier has labelled the film as a new genre he wants to create- "Digressionism". I don't know what this means and I know von Trier loves to mess with his fans and the media, but I feel like I guess it means the film won't really follow a standard narrative. Joe will probably not be our main character despite the film being about her telling her story, I know it's over a period of about 30 years so maybe we switch protagonist each chapter? Will themes change as the film progresses? Will the film even be about nymphomania by the end? Who knows, but all I know is the subtle marketing has me absolutely hooked. Gonna be dying for this through these teasers.

Definitely my most anticipated movie just now.
I've also been following/looking forward to Nymphomaniac. I haven't seen much of Lars von Trier's stuff at all, only Antichrist and Melancholia. I didn't really like Antichrist but I loved Melancholia.
Obviously waiting for new Steve McQueen film and the one that won in Cannes, but I only recently heard about "Ain't Them Bodies Saint". It has terrific cast and interesting premise, might be very interesting.
From the lesser known films, I'm also anticipating new Spike Jonze film - "Her". Starring Amy Adams, Scarlett Johansson, Olivia Wilde, Rooney Mara, Chris Pratt and Joaquin Phoenix with this description:
A lonely writer develops an unlikely relationship with his newly-purchased operating system that's designed to meet his every need.
Aint them bodies saint and 12 Years a Slave.
cant

oh and the new movie by Paul Thomas Anderson called Inherent Vice
interesting cast but mainly interested by the fact Joaquin Phoenix plays the headrole
I saw scenic route on my directv because they had the special "see it before it comes to theatres" thing.
I thought hey, this might be a good comedy! It turned out to be a.... very thoughtful movie. It really made me think.
