Eraserhead is a beautiful movie about one man's journey to support his family and new child in a world where it is difficult to persist; however, in the face of all adversity, Mr. Eraser (also called Henry) succeeds!
Synopsis
We start out seeing one of Mr. Eraser's dreams, where he dreams of having a baby with his beautiful fiance and the help of the all-loving, all-knowing, all-forgiving God. He wakes up, and we see him returning home from work with some food. He's been having some troubles with his fiance lately as they disagree over whether or not hedged shrubberies are "in", but his nice neighbor next door tells him that his fiance (Ms. Eraserer, or Mary) wants him to come over to finally meet her parents and have a nice dinner. He turns on his radiator so his house will be nice and cozy when he gets back, and leaves for Ms. Eraserer's place.
Mr. Eraser goes there, plays with their nice doggies and meets Ms. Eraserer's parents. Dinner is kind of awkward because Mr. Eraser is really nervous, but Ms. Eraserer's dad is really friendly so it ends up being all right. Then, Ms. Eraserer's mom takes Mr. Eraser aside and asks him a really uncomfortable question, mainly being whether or not the couple had had sex yet. She tells him that apparently, Ms. Eraserer had a baby! And where she might normally be angry because she is super Christian and believes in waiting until marriage, she loves Mr. Eraser and believes he is a great man so much that it's all right.
Mr. Eraser goes home and checks his mail and finds an engagement ring that he had shipped to him, and then he goes upstairs to find his beautiful baby and his fiance already there. Rather than propose, though, he decides to be more artful about it and wait for a better moment. Then the two of them go to sleep together. The baby cries a lot, though, so Mr. Eraser offers to take care of the baby so that Ms. Eraserer can get some sleep at her parents' home. They kiss and promise to think about baby names, and she leaves.
Mr. Eraser has really nice dreams about the baby and it growing up into a healthy beautiful boy, about the kind neighbour next door helping him babysit it, and about proposing to Ms. Eraserer. He turns his radiator up higher because it's still too cold. He thinks a little about why he was named Mr. Eraser and where erasers come from.
When he wakes up, he sees that the woman next door brought her husband, and he kindly greets them and wishes them a happy life and feels really happy and comes back to his room and then he murders his baby because oh god oh god it wasn't true

Media tag that mutilated baby mang.
awesome
This movie confuses me.
You know the only David Lynch movie that isn't fucked up is surprisingly called The Straight Story.
excellent film. The way the it used so many scenes of almost total silence was pretty astounding and worked really well
Thanks man I was eating
Fuck Eraserhead, Blue Velvet is my favorite Lynch movie
That baby thing reminds me of

Anyway, I'm going to have to check this movie out sometime.
I've seen it three times and I show it to as many people as I possibly can
it's the sort of thing you have to see
after a while you can actually begin to understand the underlying story
I have developed a weird, twisted love for this movie even though it should not be enjoyable at all
I pretty much stopped reading at David Lynch.
In the picture.
Wtf....
This movie sounds ridiculously fucked up.
Having watched it, I can only describe it as a nightmare. Literally, this is what nightmares are like.
Saw this movie for the first time when stoned, and my fucked up friend was describing what was going on. I enjoyed it.
I watched it a second and third time by myself, and I was like... what the fucking fuck?!
I kind of have a love for this nightmarish and disturbing film. The girl with the chipmunk cheeks, I guess symbolize as "Death" is my favorite character in Eraserhead.
"In heaven everything is fine."
I watched this with a friend once. He personally thinks that Mr. Eraserhead is in his own personal hell, though I think it's just a nightmare. Or perhaps it's more a representation of how nightmarish real life can be.
I've heard about this movie. Looks disturbing, wihich means that I'll watch it :D
I've heard this movie is like a nightmare beginning to end.
This movie, The Cell, and Requiem for a Dream are some of the most fucked up movies I've ever seen and I loved every single one of them
this movie looks completely retarded. also, was this movie made in the 60's?
I find this movie incredibly boring :saddowns:
Might not be my genre.
