This is definitely gonna make me sound like a huge bastard, but here goes: I've always been a high achiever, and have been the best at whatever I do in my small communities - primary school, family, group of friends. But as I'm starting to grow up, I'm meeting people who are good at things, and others who are amazing at things. One of my friends (we're both 15) was recently accepted to be one of the 10 developers of some programming framework. Before that, I was thinking about trying programming and seeing how it goes, but after I heard that, I completely gave up. If I do something, I NEED to be the best at it, and this is almost always gonna be impossible. I've always managed to do this before, but now that I'm going out into the world, I'm meeting a lot of seriously skilled people who I don't feel I can surpass. It was just today that I decided to try my hand at 3d modeling, I got 3ds max and was reading the 3d threads in the arts section, when I read about daijitsu. I mean, I always knew he was an arts mod and all, but I found out that he was invited to be 1 of 25 3ds max board members or something, and is in direct contact with the CEO of Autodesk. This almost put me off doing 3d stuff altogether, since somebody in the same community as me is the best in the field. I just don't want to be like every other piece of shit out there, not accomplishing much and only having recognition within their small community. How do I get past this mentality, fp? TL;DR: I cba to do shit because I know I probably won't be the best in the world at it.
daijitsu is the best at everything. The first step is to accept that.
you need to find something that you enjoy doing, not that you think you want to do. I enjoy math, but unfortunately there are many asians that can outdo me easily.
Your error is to assume daijitsu and others got to that position by just being them.
Be happy for your friends who are better than you. Being jealous just makes you out to be a giant prick. Learn from the people who are better than you rather than be angry with them. You have to remember that SOMEONE SOMEWHERE is ALWAYS much better than you at EVERYTHING.
Yo Daijitsu! GET OVER HERE!
I am a 3d modeler and I do not care if someone's better than me. If they are, I will ask them for tips and help. The only people I hate are the ones who think they are better than everyone and will be stuck up assholes about it.
you can be better than daijitsu you fool
You're not gonna get far with that mindset, you need to accept that there are always gonna be motherfuckers who are way better than you, and that everything you have done in the past was probably easy.

I'm happy for them, it's just that I need to surpass them.

Work to please yourself, not others.
i wanna be the very best...
Not everyone is the best, but everyone can be better!
i wanna be the very best...
Please don't sing that or I'll find you, try doing something you're extremely good in and practice until you're fingers bleed. No not even till' then, do it alot longer.
You wont be the best at anything you do, realize that. The chance of you being the best is so minuscule you might as well not even think about being it.
find something you enjoy doing regardless of how well you do it
Somebody needs to get Daijitsu in here.
also DEFINE BEST
Pick a field, like art/design and become fluent in its many facets. Then, once comfortable, pick a specific part like 3D, drawing, concept art, low poly modeling etc. and practice the fuck out of it. No one can be the best at everything, but with a lot of practice you can be great at something.
You're not gonna get better crying about it. It's stupid to believe you're gonna be the best at something. Besides, you're only 15, you got a lot of learning and a lot of growing up to do. Just be the best you can be.
You're never going to be good at EVERYTHING. Just find something you really enjoy. And if someone is better than you, just try your best, you can do no better. Oh wow that's looks really stupid right what i just wrote mannn.
You need a montage.
There's always going to be better than you. Even someone who is near perfect will have someone in the world that is better than him at something.
You must realize that this attitude is what's stopping you being as good as them. They likely never encountered this problem because they never knew of anyone else better than them. You must also realize that it is still possible for you to be better than them. You just have to push yourself beyond your comfort zone.
Never doubt yourself, let it make you stronger. Learn something from it.
LIKE NO ONE EVER WAS dun dun dun dun
Don't worry about it, I used to be the same way. Hell, I'm still like that, but it's not going to stop me.
And you shouldn't let another person's success put you off. You should look at that person and strive to be just as good if not better than them. That's how we set our goals. If it weren't for those who were better than us or those who were lesser than us, there would be no social balance.
Anyone can be netter than anyone else, we've all got brains, we just have to get them to work right, heck, if i tried hard enough i could be better than dai [It would take litterally 10 years but then Dai would be evn better than me still., it's just that he is more suited to it, that's the reason anyone is especially good at some things and bad at others, it's a part of life.
