A sit-in and protest at the the City College of New York turned confrontational Thursday afternoon, when a protester was pepper-sprayed and arrested for endangering the welfare of a minor, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest. Another was detained and cited for disorderly conduct.
The protest took place outside City College's recently closed Morales-Shakur Center, which CCNY abruptly converted into a "career center" on Sunday. The arrests happened when a crowd of protesters tried to force their way inside the North Academic Center (NAC), where the Morales-Shakur center used to be.

The Morales Shakur center was used for a lot of left wing groups and discussions within the campus. The people in there were able to give us a lot of the student rights we have now in the college. The protest was entirely peaceful up until this guy charges in with his son in his hands, trying to push entryway. It ended up getting the whole building locked down, which was pretty fucking annoying considering myself and others had mid terms to take.
This is the second time these guys performed a protest. On Monday they pulled the fire alarms to get us outside and blend in with the crowd. Once inside they began their protest until they were kicked out.
The whole coincidence of events seems really sketchy. It comes after David Patreus was employed to teach in the Macaulay Honors College of CUNY, which led to a lot of people from this same group protest against his ridiculous pay raise. Patreus ended up getting a 1$ salary compared to the 200k he was originally going to receive.
I have some videos and pictures if you guys want, they aren't amazing but you can see a lot of what was going on. The source has some goodies as well.
Why was it closed down? I was reading an opinion piece in AM about the place two days ago, more so criticizing the naming of the center.

The official story is that it was closed to make room for a career center in the school. There are so many other areas that would be just as good if not better for a career center in the other buildings on campus.
You should add the videos/photos to the thread, seeing things from the ground level rather than a new camera always adds a nice perspective.
