What German comedians think of Brits – from bad to wurst
atching standup – not to mention telly comedy – affords plenty of opportunities to hear what Brits think of the Germans. No sense of humour, ruthlessly efficient, beach towels on the sun loungers, blah blah blah. Aside from Henning Wehn’s career and the occasional visit by Michael Mittermeier, we seldom hear what Germans think about Brits. Until now, as a clip of Germany’s version of The Daily Show on the possibility of a “Brexit” from the EU circulates online.
German comedy living up to its stereotype. The artillery joke was funny though.
It's revenge for the British attempts to destroy Germany by ramming it with their tanks.
Reminds me of when Robin Williams was talking about the time a German talkshow host asked him why he thought standup comedy wasn't that wide-spread in Germany, and he responded by saying "Well, did you ever stop and think maybe you killed all the funny poeple?", and without batting an eyelash she says "No."
okay, TEATIME! got me good

Actually what are the stereotypes about german humour? Just curious because I am a German currently living in Madrid, Spain. (:
Speaking of comedy in my opinion the US-americans have the funniest, most satirical and wonderfully ironic humor the world has seen. Even though the United States have kinda a bad reputation in the rest of the world they sure as hell know it and produce absolutely brilliant shows about it. Best example is John Oliver or The Onion.
Not even 200 refugees from Syria? Jesus Christ.

The British (might be European) stereotype of Germans is that they are painfully unfunny. This is to do with the other stereotype of Germans always wanting to do things in the most efficient way.

That no such thing exists :v:
henning wehn being the UK's portal in to german comedy has not helped the perception of them being capable of humor
Damn, some of that was really not that laughable. Not in an offensive way just plain, bland?

John Oliver is British, that's why. Americans - (with a few exceptions, such as Rich Hall, who is basically an honourary Brit), are not funny.
And neither are Germans.

I'd rather say, German humour is painfully, PAINFULLY juvenile.

John Oliver may be British, but comedy style is pretty far from it. He took a lot of cues from Jon Stewart in that regard
And comon, how can you say guys like Jon Stewart, Steven Colbert, George Carlin, Jerry Seinfeld and Louis CK arent funny?

That's weird. The German-exchange student over here said that he didn't understand American humor. Like, as a whole.

Maybe you shouldn't judge 80 million people based on one guy?
I don't say all americans are fat and stupid just because I saw an advertisement of Honey Boo Boo
The guy presenting that crappy German show doesn't know its more than just England that's in the UK

You're expecting logic from a satirical comedy show?
Going into an indepth analysis of poitical geology before attempting to make a joke is the height of a comedians job.

But how will I know what people are like without sterotyping!?!?
That moment where most of the time you never see German Comedians leave Germany due to language barriers and the fact that they get shit on by English people at the soonest oppurtunity.
German humor is incredibly similar to English humor.

80 million? Try almost 319 million.

He's talking about Germany...
The last time germany made a funny, we almost solved the jewish question.
Wow, honestly most of that wasn't even funny, but actually did seem just deliberately hurtful.
I never thought of Germans as cunts before, but hey what can do about it.
"You don't accept random immigrants that come over on boats and you get a bunch of privileges other European countries don't get."
Expected better burns from Germany, guess they don't just have it in them anymore.

The extra wurst bit, and the tea time bit yeah, but literally calling us island monkeys, like what the fuck.

It's no different than you calling us Krauts
It's no different than you calling us Krauts
First off, it's pretty presumptuous to think that is even a common term, I can't remember the last time I heard it outside of Saving Private Ryan and war movies.
Secondly there is a bit of a difference between referring to people as a well known food of their nation and calling people island monkeys.
Thirdly, the term Krautrock isn't considered derogatory so it obviously can't be that bad.
