That's actually some amazing performance for a all software based emulation solution
So wait will this work with Xbox live? Like say you pop in Black Ops 2 on xbox one, it'll connect to live? I feel they should of replaced the xbox 360 guide with an xbox one themed guide or something so if you close the app you won't lose your party or whatever

And I believe the parties are linked, I've been in Xbone parties while playing before.
Well fuck, if One can emulate 360 at such performance, I hope we get this on PC
Well fuck, if One can emulate 360 at such performance, I hope we get this on PC
Microsoft has done cool things lately, but I wouldn't hope up on that, they still need to sell Xboxes after all.
I'm really impressed with this, considering everyone more or less has been saying "it's impossible!!!" for the past year. Makes me almost regret selling off my 360 games over the years. It's also a shame that Sony recently came out and said they aren't planning on working backwards compatibility in to the PS4. Guess that'd cut in to their PS Now sales.
.... and the fact that the PS3 is going to be impossible to emulate efficiently with anything other than a PS3-style processor. Keep in mind it was a huge pain in the ass for most developers to develop for the PS3 because of how its special snowflake processor worked, which is why a lot of PS3 versions of multiplatform games simply ran like ass, looked bad, or were much buggier. It wasn't until very late in its lifecycle that devs figured out how to make games properly for it, and for the most part is was only the first parties that did.
This is a a bigger deal than people give it credit for tbh.
snip, dumb post
I can barely hear the guy, and the other guy is annoyingly loud :(

It would be nice if Sony did this, at least for PS1 and PS2 games, since the PS3 had some weird hardware.
i played battleblock and banjo kazooie and they both run well. i wonder how they will handle games with more than one disc
It would be nice if Sony did this, at least for PS1 and PS2 games, since the PS3 had some weird hardware.
The PS4 can't read CDs atm so the best we'd get PS1-wise is just the PS1 classics unless Sony adds support for CDs.
Mass Effect 1 Loads (slightly) faster on the XB1. There is also frame rate improvements in some spots.
The PS4 can't read CDs atm so the best we'd get PS1-wise is just the PS1 classics unless Sony adds support for CDs.
That could probably be added in as a software patch. PS2 discs are DVDs, so those shouldn't be a problem.

So the 360 game thinks it's running on standard retail 360 hardware, and the Xbox One thinks it's just running a weird Xbox One app. As a result, you have both OSes and the features of both OSes available. Everyone's happy! This is also one of the reasons why publishers need to approve each game - Microsoft is basically repackaging each game as an Xbox One app.
i wonder how they will handle games with more than one disc
Apparently they're still trying to figure out stuff relating to multi-disc games. Not impossible, and they want to do it, but not trivial.
So I guess the only reason why PC 360 emulation hasn't happened yet is that they have to figure out how it all works. They did say that they had to do some process with the game data to emulate it though, I wonder what they do to it.

Once this is applied and I can re-download all of my XBLA stuff i'm probably going to get an Xbone to replace my 360 now.
Unfortunately the performance isnt great, it seems to chug quite bad in certain areas. Regardless its still impressive for software based emulation.
