Valve stole my money, then said I didn't have enough to buy my game.

I've been waiting forever for GTA IV to come out for PC. I was happy when it came out on steam. I went out and bought a $50 prepaid credit card, and happily went home to buy my game. I put in all the information and everything, but they say my card has been declined. Puzzled, I go to the credit card site to check my balance. I now have $49.00. Valve charged me a dollar. For no reason.
I thought that maybe I could buy my game after they charged me this dollar, so I go to try the transaction again. They steal ANOTHER FUCKING DOLLAR. Now I'm stuck with a $48 prepaid credit card and no GTA IV. I sent Valve two support questions. I'm extremely angry right now. There's absolutely nothing on their site that says anything about charging me a dollar for no reason, and to stop me from buying my game while they're at it just really makes me mad.
Is there ANY possibility that they'll give me credit? I really have no other use for this fucking gift card. This is really fucking bullshit.
I'm really just venting here. Anybody else have this problem and actually get a happy ending?
EDIT:Picture so people stop telling me it's the card charging money.

CLARIFICATION EDIT:
Valve doesn't charge tax on games in the US, where I live. Or at least in my state.
I paid activation fees on the card when I bought it.
I've bought games from valve before using prepaid credit cards and they've never charged me a fee before. The game was the exact amount on the gift card those times too.
It's a transaction fee. Since the first attempt charged you $1.00, they couldn't charge the entire $50.00 ontop of that. So yeah you got screwed.
If they don't give you a refund, file a fraud claim.
EDIT: Missed the "prepaid" part. Yeah, what the last guy said.
Just wait for Steam Support to reply. Normally takes around a day or two.

What's so funny?

What the fuck is so funny?
Edit:
Faggots.
get 3 dollars and do it again
Give them another dollar dammit!
Edit:
Just do it 48 more times, and then you'll have spent 50 dollars and valve will give you the game
Prepaid, he can't put any money in it.
You should read on better when you buy stuff on the net. I'm sure it says somewhere about a fee.
Get a $51 pre-paid card.

It's amazing how the first instinct is to blame someone else instead of yourself.
Wait, what about tax?
Wait, but that doesn't make sense. If gift cards come in $50.00 denominations and someone wants to get a $50.00 game but valve charges a transaction fee of one dollar, why wouldn't they make their prepaid cards count for $51.00?

obviously because they're an evil corporation and planned the entire thing
Because processing fees are variable
The transaction fee is not counted once they accept your card. SO. If I bought a game from steam they take $1 and then they accept the card then give me the doller back and take the rest. they also take the $1 they gave me.
Also there is no tax on games from the internet. I think.

capitalism :science:
-snip-
There's no tax on games. I've bought games from steam before using prepaid credit cards and they never did this shit. And they really should have a message or something instead of just charging a dollar.
And also, there's no activation on the prepaid card I got. It's a charge from Valve.

If it happens to everything, then yeah, it should be $51. If it only happens to steam, why the fuck would they make it $51? Not everyone who buys prepaid credit cards goes on steam and buys stuff with it.

There is tax.
GTA4 is $49.99. Your card had $49.00 on it when it was activated.

/thread.
Are you sure you entered the pre-paid card information correctly? I believe this happened to me before but I was using a credit card that time.
:( tax
There's no tax on games.
Uh, yeah there is.
Email gabe, he always knows what to do.

So it's somehow Valve's fault, even though GTAIV wasn't made by them and even though STEAM was, you've done it before without any errors?
Maybe jumping to conclusions?

It's his fucking card.
When you use credit or debit, their side is already paid by the amount of the game. Their not supposed to charge more than they listed (other than tax).
ATMs can charge you extra, but that's a service fee.
It's not Valve, it's your shitty giftcard charging you the dollar per a transaction. Better bet is always to read the back info of those damned card and do a cash withdraw at a register or move it all to a bank account.
hahaha ok see everytime you make a transaction, it takes a dollar and puts it towards the place you bought the card from, since it's a pre paid.
since you tried it a second time, that was your second transaction, and it took another dollar, and it then said you didn't have enough money to buy the game

No not the end of the thread he had 50.00 exactly before he used it. He used it, it was declined, and now it has 49.00.
If I buy from steam, my games, for example, left 4 dead, is $50 on steam, works out to be $73 (could be more or less now). It depends where you are. Don't blame valve because you screwed up.
