It seems like the North Korea thing is shoehorned in for the connection with the previous game, as the main backstory is about a corporation eclipsing government power.

So basically APEX is the Atlas Corporation from Advanced Warfare but instead of Kevin Spacey its Korean Steve Jobs?

Those fake documentaries are super cool. I really hope this game is good.

I refuse to ever believe that North Korea was somehow able to get ahead of the USA in terms of technology. Unless they do what Wolfenstein did, but still, eh. EDIT: Also what the fuck happened to the original Homefront in terms of canon? Was it retconned?

Thus, a genius entrepreneur, a Korean Steve Jobs, would've had the market and support to build up a company.

Son also loves power so he installs backdoors into all apex stuff. The US still has 9/11 happen to it apparently and they go fight in the middle east for awhile. The USSR gets scared a little because the us is invading iraq and the middle east, but the US goes "muh war on terror" and the USSR goes "ok whatever" APEX makes amazing military tech, US goes "give me that shit so i can kill some arabs in iraq." US debt begins. John Mccain is elected prez. puts fucking Goldman Scachs in gov exec power due to 2007 bailout. Logic failure. US still thinks its a great idea to get more debt. buys more military shit from apex for trillions. proceeds to kill more arabs and expands to more middle east countries like syria, iran, and others. USSR still doesnt give a shit apparently. Iran goes "fuck it" and uses a atomic bomb on us troops in green zone ridyah. 200,000 US troops die. bigger death toll than hiroshima. really. US leaves middle east and cries while buried in its debt US has massive poverty and unemployment problems. Apex goes "hey US pay me" president orilley tells apex to fuck off and defaults. Apex decides to shut off the entire country with backdoor. orilley leaves office, military dude takes his place. apex tells him it would be a swell idea if they can come swing by and give some humanitarian aid. dudes like "ok cool." They come by and give some aid, oh wait nevermind their here to invade and make sure the debt is repaid. Europe is terrified of USSR so they dont do shit. UN is full of apex tech so they really cant do anything to apex. Apex wins. remember to pay debts.
