theres no mainstream anymore in the first place, and the idea that a person who signed a record deal with Sony is somehow infiltrating it is nonsense.
That wouldn't make sense either because if you're a YouTube person who does things (like music or videos) chance is you have a partnership which in a musicians case is pretty much the same as a record label, only difference is you control distribution and PR however you want
Come to think of it, YT Partnerships are a lot better than record labels in that regard.

first musical artist that's gotten a fair bit of public admiration and isn't completely bland and generic. actually makes original music/videos and doesn't give a shit about the bullshit in the music industry
