• French Retailers Are Cancelling Yoshi Woolly World amiibo Orders Due to "Destroyed" Stock
Just when you thought that things couldn't get any worse in the world of amiibo collecting, we're now hearing reports from France that retailers are cancelling orders because of "destroyed" stock. The idea of stock being willfully destroyed is an odd one, but détruit can also mean "spoiled" or "damaged", which seems more likely. It sounds like there was an issue with the Yoshi amiibo shipment - they could have become damaged or ruined during transit - and as a result, orders are being cancelled.
Source. This is truly a disappointing thread.
Their price just skyrocketed!
Im going to assume that during the production process, a small amount of them was probably housing some foreign mites and insects. there's probably some laws about importing foreign fauna so they probably had to destroy the whole batch. or there could be some sort of logistics error, like the Yoshi's themselves are classed as toys, right? probably too much red tape. yarnworms?
That sucks. They're like, the best amiibo.

okay, this has gotten too far it's okay to love the things but a fucking hiest? someone (probably) destroying the stock? some people need to calm down
okay, this has gotten too far it's okay to love the things but a fucking hiest? someone (probably) destroying the stock? some people need to calm down
Article doesn't say anything about theft. Most likely the amiibo were damaged in transit.
This one wasn't a heist. The Splatoon Amiibos were.
Is it really that easy to jump to the conclusion that they were stolen or purposefully destroyed rather than damaged in transit?
It would be nice if they gave us details on how they were "destroyed".
Remember Beanie Babies? I'm getting those vibes again. [editline]19th June 2015[/editline]
It would be nice if they gave us details on how they were "destroyed".
If it's like any other business, defective or damaged merchandise is dumped in a trash compactor and sent to the landfill. Sure, you COULD still sell them at reduced cost but this isn't how modern capitalism works, plus it costs money. Product arrived in a condition you were not satisfied with? Well obviously nobody wants it so you should destroy it and claim it as a tax writeoff. Who would want to pay half price for a scratched or dented product, right?
This one wasn't a heist. The Splatoon Amiibos were.
My bad, the way I wrote it sounded odd i meant in general with amiibos, not just the yoshi ones
It would be nice if they gave us details on how they were "destroyed".
I heard some Frenchies suggesting that it might have to do with a warehouse fire in Villejuif near Paris a few days ago. Seems like the fire took out the Amiibo that were stored there.

why are people going fucking batshit over amiibos
why are people going fucking batshit over amiibos
I miss Beanie Babies. At least they were soft. [t]http://i.imgur.com/RSKncZ9.jpg[/t]
why are people going fucking batshit over amiibos
I believe its because Nintendo rarely ever releases any figurines of any kind. Unless you want to import a high quality japanese figure for over $50, this is the next best thing.

Unless you want to import a high quality japanese figure for over $50, this is the next best thing.
Also the fact that people can finally get figures of characters that never had their own action figure, Captain Falcon for example. Nintendo usually sticks with Mario and Zelda figures, with these amiibos every smash character can be on your shelf.
It would be nice if they gave us details on how they were "destroyed".
if anything, its probably they were damaged when the truck carrying them crashed, or in a warehouse fire or something. An entire stock of an item doesn't just get "damaged in transit" and every single one is broken in some way, unless a truck turns over and dozen 2 dozen flips down a hill, rolls off a cliff, and explodes. If a store or warehouse gets in damaged product off the truck, regardless of whose fault it is, it's claimsed out and sent back to the manufacturer for credit. The only thing I've ever seen thrown into a compactor is broken light bulbs and broken glass.
so how are amiibo prices in japan right now, and can i make money selling them back in the us
Container could have fallen off the ship. It happens all the time :v:
so how are amiibo prices in japan right now, and can i make money selling them back in the us
you certainly can, but it's not that profitable of a business, unless you're doing it en-mass. even then, finding the right amiibo and the right customers is almost as difficult as finding the amiibo themselves. [editline]21st June 2015[/editline] also amiibo differ between locations. though not region locked, they have different packaging and that means something to some people.
