SARATOGA SPRINGS — Police seized cocaine, heroin, LSD, Ecstacy, hallucinogenic mushrooms, hash, marijuana, nitrous oxide, bath salts, guns and cash at this weekend’s Phish concerts at Saratoga Performing Arts Center, and a woman, while naked, was injured after she climbed and then stepped off a light post in a parking area.
New York State Park Police are still tallying their arrest records, but a spokesperson says they made at least 50 arrests during the three days of concerts.
At about 9:30 p.m. Sunday, park police responded to the Victoria Mall parking area — near the Victoria Pool — where a naked woman had climbed one of the temporary, 25-foot-tall light posts.
When officers arrived, state parks spokesperson Sally Drake said, “They observed the woman step off the light.” Drake said the woman appeared to have been under the influence of a substance yet to be identified.
The woman, identified as 19-year-old Christina Das of Rochester, sustained two broken ankles and a broken wrist in the fall and was in stable condition as of Monday afternoon. Drake said it is unknown at this point whether charges will be filed against Das.
While park police were stationed at the concert, Saratoga Springs police also increased staffing over the weekend to handle crowds in the city.
City officers made 13 arrests, primarily related to drug possession and sales. In addition to various drugs, police seized two loaded rifles from a vehicle in which drugs were found, and issued more than 50 traffic citations to concert-goers. They also reported numerous accidents in and around the Saratoga Spa State Park.
“The department takes seriously its commitment to be as proactive as possible to help provide a safe environment for both concertgoers and the general public,” city Police Chief Christopher Cole said in a statement Monday. “Enhanced enforcement such as this sends a clear message that the department will not accept the dangerous and illegal activity of those traveling on our streets and in our neighborhoods that puts the health and safety of others in jeopardy.”
The increased staffing levels — 10 additional officers — were paid for with money from convicted drug offenders. “Let the drug dealers pay for it,” said city Police Lt. John Catone.
During the concert, police seized more than $1,000 from drug sales proceeds.
Catone said despite the number of arrests and minor incidents, “there were no major accidents or incidents,” adding that he believes “the concerts went well.”
“We had a plan and we stuck to it,” he said.
When Phish played two shows at SPAC in June 2010, park police made 68 arrests, including 18 felony drug arrests.[/quote]

I bet manufacturers and sellers of actual bath salts are fed up with this, I know I am. Use the actual chemical name damn it. It's sold as much more than just "bath salts", anyways.

^ absolutely nothing related to the the article, gj
Why would you even try to stop there from being drugs at a Phish concert. That's like going to the Pacific ocean and trying to catch every single fish.

See, they can't do that. They have to maintain the public's ignorance about bath salts and what they actually contain and do. Most people see bath salts the same way people saw pot when 'reefer madness' was news, because very few know anything about it.

I know, this thing kind of pisses me off. I mean, it's one thing if they were actually endangering public safety, but what's possession going to do? Sure, there's a potential, but there's also a potential when I'm holding a box cutter under my jacket.
buzzkill arresting people at a freaking concert that's so fucking underhanded.

On the Sarah Silverman program she convinces some people at a Jam band concert that they don't really like the music, they're just tripping.
