Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) Wednesday brought an oversized printout of a Donald Trump tweet onto the Senate floor Wednesday.
The former Democratic presidential candidate used the prop as a reference as he called on the president-elect to either veto any legislation to cut Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security or admit that he "lied" to the American people.
there's already 5 uploads of of that template on shitpostbot5000
Watching him speak is just fucking energizing, he makes you want to do something. Instead, the DNC picked a soggy noodle for the candidacy who actively repulses you.
It's a shame he's so old, Would have been cool to see him try again next cycle.

Still the best edit

Not just the DNC, Democratic voters too.
What an inspiring Debate. I still can't believe that the election threw away such a worthy candidate, and someone that is clearly passionate about the American people.
Not just the DNC, Democratic voters too.
The DNC did everything in their power to screw over Bernie and promote Hillary instead. Had it just been left to the voters in a fair race, things could've been different.

Possible, but not guaranteed. Everyone agrees that what the DNC did was bad and that the media didn't do it's job early on in Sanders run but people seem to miss out on the fact that Clinton didn't win the nomination off those two factors alone. Democrats really, really like Clinton. A solid chunk of them even want her to run again in 2020. She was the most admired woman in 2016. I see the sentiment online often that the "DNC picked Clinton" which is only partly true. Democrats picked Clinton, and its those Democrats we need to reach if you want to put a Democrat in office in 2020.
Name recognition unfortunately eclipses any type of policy substance.
bernie sanders is a jewish, self-described socialist, 900 year old man who doesn't comb his hair that nobody outside of vermont heard of before ~2014 and he won 43% of the vote in an election that was proven to be 100% rigged against him the entire time
For once I'm actually expecting a Trump tweet.
The fuck Bernie.
You're exactly right. I completely agree. Bernie was/is all substance, genuine, for the people and came close to winning when the odds were stacked against him. But he didn't win. I think the DNC bias with Debbie Schultz, and later with Donna Brazile giving debate questions to Clinton in advance had an effect and certainly showed their true colors, but at the end of the day Clinton won by double digits in the biggest populated districts.
I don't think that bias could have that amount of an effect on those results. The issue of closed and open primaries maybe, but my point is that although Bernie did indeed gain a hell of a lot of name recognition after this election, Clinton was one of the most well known politicians prior to the primaries and as the results showed Democratic Primary voters picked Clinton. The most establishment, neo-liberal, corporatist, pro-TPP, who doesn't care about the little man but rather the guys at Wall Street. Why did a majority of people vote for her then when she clearly isn't for the people? I'd say name recognition as before, but I think the media played a key role in this as well, whether intentionally or not. CNN, MSNBC, FOX, and all the newspapers focused very little on her horrible policy history/proposals, instead just focusing on her private email server. They failed to give Bernie's points(which are overwhelmingly popular) an ample amount of TV time or even compare his polices with Clinton's. It was just emails and what did Trump say this time. The media got played or rather those Average Joe's who voted in the primary and who might not be as informed about of all of this, because I guarantee you if you layed out the policies of both Hillary and Bernie, the Democratic primary voter would vote for Bernie. Unfortunately the media failed to do its job in educating the masses.
So without that political policy knowledge prior to the primary, a majority of people voted for Clinton. So name recognition did prevail in this case.
it barely prevailed with all the odds stacked in its favor, and it turned out that it was all for naught because nobody in america wanted hillary clinton and she lost miserably

I still don't get why he calls himself a socialist, he's clearly not one.

Yeah, correction for Judas. He's a self-described democratic-socialist.
Yeah, correction for Judas. He's a self-described democratic-socialist.
Which is further amusing because he's more like a social democrat
I still don't get why he calls himself a socialist, he's clearly not one.
I like to think of it as his personal ideology and ultimate goal of society is democratic socialism but by using the means of social democracy as you see in his policy. He's also grown up calling himself a socialist and looking up to people like Eugene Debs, so imagine a self described socialist coming out and saying "no, im actually a social democrat!". It would look like he's running away from his ideals.
Imagining a world where he became president and was able to successfully enact all his ideals, it also likely you'd see him propose more ideals in line with socialism and social ownership of means of production as a next step, but when you have things like money in politics and universal healthcare still huge concerns in America you have to choose your fights.
I still don't get why he calls himself a socialist, he's clearly not one.
The word has two meanings in English.
It seems to muddle a lot of political debates (especially) in the US, with people dismissing democratic socialism and social democracy as Marxist constructs.

Really says something about hillary
Really says something about hillary
I think the fact she lost to Trump says a whole lot more lmao
Are you guys saying Hillary was all flash and no substance compared to Bernie? Because she's not like that at all.

I can't tell if this is sarcasm
Both Clinton and Sanders are policy wonks. Trump is the vapid idiot, remember?

I still don't know which one of that fantastic trio is the worst
I still don't know which one of that fantastic trio is the worst
Pretty sure you can cross out Bernie from that list, he's the only one of the three who has principles.

Clinton isn't an idiot, but she is extremely flawed as a candidate.

the dnc heavily weights southern states where hillary cleaned up, unfortunately she lost all those states in the general because they never flip blue
