I was looking around the gen forums and i noticed a thread that reminded my about a story I heard when I was much younger. It involved a girl who was born deaf and blind and yet had ability to be a jerk to people in her (area, school, hospital? i dont remember.) and somehow cut off someones hair or some crap. how the fuck does someone who cant see OR hear do fucking anything? Not that i know anything on the subject, but still, how the fuck? How would you understand ideas(or understand that scissors are fine to cut hair with but flesh is a nono/gets you landed in jail). imo it sounds like someone like this would be in a perpetual state of blobness. or something. what do you think it would be like? anyway... tear into the topic gentlemen/mentlegen/ravenous wolves that are facepunchers. interested to see what happens. Edit: If youd' rather this go in fast threads then bugger off
I don't know about being deaf, but I've heard that being blind is like trying to see out of your elbow. Go on, try it. That's what I thought. My English teacher thought we were all high when we told her what was going on.
you think thats bad? what about people who are born deaf, blind, and mute , shit is tough for em also it is possible to cut hair while being blind , just gota watch out for those ears
that's the most stupid way to think of what being blind is like, there is no way to describe being blind, to be honest
does "Close your eyes and blindfold yourself" not count?
I'm deaf, if you want to know anything ask me.
well what would you do if you were deaf and blind? lol
I'm legally blind. No, seriously.
so there are illegal ways to be blind?
helen kellner graduated college and she was blind and deaf just a bit of information for u all there!!
helen kellner graduated college and she was blind and deaf just a bit of information for u all there!!
well how did she get the knoledge when she cant hear or see?
helen kellner graduated college and she was blind and deaf just a bit of information for u all there!!
How do you learn if you're death and blind?
If I recall correctly Helen Keller learned with sign language pressed into her hand.
I'm deaf, if you want to know anything ask me.
Can you still kinda 'feel' sounds? Like vibrations, can you kinda interpret them to what they should sound like? For instance, in a club with a really loud bass beat, could you feel that and guess what it sounds like? Do you have any notion of what sound/hearing is?
How do you learn if you're death and blind?
isn't that what this thread is about
that's the most stupid way to think of what being blind is like, there is no way to describe being blind, to be honest
Relatively easy. You can't see shit.

It's kind of weird to know how people hear different from you eg: I can't hear high pitch sounds (Although with my hearing aids I can). I should mention that I'm profound deaf, not completely deaf
If you lack some senses other senses become better. So even if you would be blind, deaf and numb maybe you could smell the presence and location of others?

Our direct perception will always be 'stunted' to what is humanly perceivable. Beyond this we have to translate data from infra-red cameras etc into something within the human spectrum - just as your hearing aid does for sound. Thinking about reality like this really makes me feel like we're all just stumbling in the dark. Is there really such a thing as an objective reality when all of our versions of reality differ due to our own varying perceptions? Even with artificial aid, surely then we are just grossly amplifying some areas, creating a distorted perception of reality similar to a Picaso painting.
WOW Kade! I've never thought of things like that before!
does "Close your eyes and blindfold yourself" not count?
nope because you'd see darkness, they see nothing, pure nothing, impossible to explain
nope because you'd see darkness, they see nothing, pure nothing, impossible to explain
I always thought they'd see black..
hellen keller learned through sign language and having a hardcore/badass teacher
I'm deaf, if you want to know anything ask me.
proof plz thx
proof plz thx
:fuckoff:
um, how would he prove it?
I always thought they'd see black..
the darkness you see when you close your eyes, is, obviously, darkness, they just don't see, and as Thomo, posted, it's better left just saying they see nothing
Well for us that can see and have been for god knows how long, its really difficult to try and be blind because if you are born blind you have never seen anything in your life so trying to be blind without ever being blind is impossible because you already know what a tree looks like, Fuck imagine it in your head right now, you really don't need to open your eyes. But that only goes for people who have already seen wordly objects.
If I recall correctly Helen Keller learned with sign language pressed into her hand.
How would she have learnt what they were telling her though?
